ONLY COMMENT ON ONE GAME, just like the other thread with best game ever. Mine has to be Half Life 2. Between the hour long go-kart rides, it just seemed like a twenty hour (if that) rimjob for the havok physics engine. The story is half assed and uninteresting. Oh, and Steam. Note: This is not commentary on the mods people have made for the game (some of which are spectacular), only the game itself.
Far Cry. EDIT- While I appreciate its impact on the industry and how earth-shattering it was for the time, I never really enjoyed Myst.
Metal Gear Solid I know of at least 3 other people who thought that Syphon Filter was a lot better than MGS. I tried MGS but couldn't see why anyone got into it.
I'm gonna have to say Halo as well. I like the games, I really do. But they are highly overrated. The multiplayer gets boring after a bit, the only reason i finished singleplayer was to finish it, I didn't really enjoy it.
overrated? try daikatanna. They boasted about that fucking pile for like 2 years about how cool it would be when it comes out. It comes out, and no one buys it becuase it sucks the big one. But yea HL2 would defenitly be one of them, very very talked about and probably one of the most anticipated games I've ever seen. In the end, it lasted about 2 months before people got bored.
Goldeneye!!! (rofl, no it's not overrated, I just hate it) True answer: DOOM 3!!!! Damn... this game is one of the most hyped piece of crap ever!!! I remember that devil Carmack at the release of the geforce 3, saying thay you'll need at least a gf3 to play the game!! Bullshit!!! you barely can play it with a gf4... and it was chuggy as shit on most systems at release Plus it's cool to have dark rooms and scripted zombies going BOO!
It's neat to see what people think. I thought HL2 tried to be deep and the constant 'action' always involved either a go-kart or that stupid ass gravity gun. Also, the firearms were not fun (with the exception of the hormone ball for the bug things-that thing made a cool sound). On the other hand I really enjoyed Far Cry because it felt like you were stalking people, or being stalked. I love mutants too. Also, I enjoyed the mindless Doom 3. It was exactly what they said it would be, and in most places it was genuinely creepy (if a bit repetitive towards the end). Also, very cool end boss.
i have to say Halo. all the xbox fanboys masturbated to it, claiming it was the best game ever. i played the pc version when it came out. i mean, dont get me wrong, it was good, but not THAT good. i thought it was way too long and repetetive. i hate how you have to go through every damn map twice - once in and all the way back. it's a pain in the ass and gets old
Doom 3 for me too.. cutting edge technology paired with 10 year old gameplay. I would have liked it a ton more if not for the monster closets and unlit boring corridors. The community support really sucked as well so you didn't see many cool mods or custom player models like you did for Quake 3 or other iD games. It was the "next big thing" for so long and once it came out it dissapeared from the spotlight rather quickly.
Is this a joke? I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about how awesome Runescape is. My cousin's kid plays it 24/7 and is probably one of the most powerful players in the game and even he admits it sucks compared to other MMO's.
You have to difine what you mean by overrated. Are you referring to a game that had a lot of hype before it came out that sucked when it was finally released? Or are you referring to games that got good reviews but weren't really that good. The most hyped game that sucked hard was robot wars that came out in the mid 90's.
Oh God someone has seen the light. I 100% agree. Contrary to some peoples comments, I'd say HL2 was one of the best games I've ever played.
