"muslim obama" interrrupted his poor kid's charlie brown special. WTF. you know damn well hes really saying "negros should move back to africa" this doesnt surprise me. http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmem...book-over-charlie-brown-christmas-special.php
Wow, I love how much hate comes out of these so called religions. So Torx, did you attend that meeting the other night? What was it all about?
yea, me and thadood met and showed he covered things we should be more aware of and take action against.. religious tendencies slithering their way into our city council, fed gov, and school systems it starts out as an "innocent" prayer before tax paid council gatherings, then eventually it'll turn into releasing the holy ghost and praising jesus. separation of church and state, etc. Then there was alot of talk about slavery and how much of an impact Christianity had at the time for wrong doing. Alot of tidbits on what the FFRF is doing to combat fraud and constitutional abuse. I know dawkins gets a bad rep these days, but i'd like to see him in person too
We got that: http://kdrv.com/news/local/153230 And the Christians are the same story, just the other side of the street. Everyone's affraid the "other side" will get thier ways. Special interests also includes athiests, religeousness in all it's forms, agnostics, givers and takers. WTF is it with all the groups wanting to run everyone elses lives when they can't even run thier own? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHRxQo2uUy8&feature=related
Slippery slope. More and more people are turning atheist/agnostic. Eventually we will all agree, there is no god.
OT: I'm all for separation of church and state but like most we don't know when to stop. You don't have to be an atheist/agnostic to want separation of church and state.
you are right sir, but you have to understand its people like this that are working to keep it separated. alot of people really dont care regardless of what they believe in, but its good to have someone in the limelight standing up for the openminds of this nation
I personally would prefer law and government based solely on science and reason, so in that sense I fully support the stated goals of the group Torx met with. My only worry are the unstated goals. Keeping irrational religious beliefs out of government is great, but I don't propose we try to dictate what people believe in their privates lives. The hoisting of one's ideology onto other people is the basis for most human conflict.
As much as I dislike religion, I believe it to be wrong to try and make people believe or disbelieve anything. My main concern about religion is that most people just accept it as truth. Religion has made it ok to remain blind to most things in life, which has led to many religious people shying away from science simply because science has adequately disproven many things their religion has taught them. When I saw the article Torx posted a few days ago, I headdesk'ed in the worst way. The comments are absolutely horrible. It's amazing what some people really believe to be true.
Oh, Torx posted a different link. Here's the original: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/dec/04/mayor-fires-at-obama-online/
It's good to have this public discussion imo. Having a secular government would be a nice change. Tbh I don't like how religion bends government to it's will. The Constitution requires separation of church and state for a very good reason. Just wish more religious people could see this for what it is instead of an attack on their faith.
The religeous of the world are trying to force thier beliefs on everyone. The nonbelievers of any religeon are trying the same thing. Antient history and the cause of more death due to war than any other form of warmongering. I tend to side with the Illuminati concerning science. But the more I study science, the more i tend to see the hand of some sort of intelligence in design, not chaos. I believe only one thing: "that the truth lies somewhere in the middle". As stated by HD, the inclusion of 'separation of church and state' into the constitution was manditory for the sake of a unified government. I see how the "divide and conquer" tactic is used by both elements of controversy and i try to stay clear of the shenanigans. My beliefs are my own and not for anyone else.....getcher own! I strive to attain an evolution of beliefs based on my human experience. therefore, what I write is subject to change . The world (all of it) needs to follow two simple rules: #1: don't sweat the small shit. #2: It's all small shit!
lol, couldnt have said it any better. imma have to use those rules sometime, better copyright it before i do!!
I'm just passing those rules on. I heard them somewhere when I was stressed beyond belief trying to attain ongoing sobriety, and they made sense.
