I normally don't post stuff like this, but Groupon is running a deal right now that is awesome.

    http://www.groupon.com/deals/dc-brd...d-midwest-homebrewing-amarillo&p=9&c=deal_img

All of the below, plus a red or white wine ingredient kit (30 bottles), PLUS $25 towards bottles of your choice. Making wine is a lot easier than making beer too, if you can make Koolaid you can make wine...

I've got all the stuff, but don't drink alcohol at all. I inherited it all from my dad.

I pulled the trigger on one, for $79 that's a solid deal for just the carboy and fermenter, The ingredient kit and $25 bottle credit, plus all that other stuff, are just a bonus.

Too bad you live all the way back there. I'm going to have a shit-ton of grapes this season if I can keep the raccoons from raping the vines.

Yeah, if you had a fruit press that could be a nice little side business. I wonder what sort of permits you would need?

It depends on the state I believe. In oregon, all liquor/beer retail is controled by the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission). That's "commission" as in appointed, not elected and regulations
are decided by industry lobby and dumb fucks that know nothing about the real world. Just like every other regulatory commission in oregon.

Do you know what varietal the grapes are? Hell, I'd drive down there and take them off your hands ;)

I made some Riesling from Southern Oregon grapes 2 years ago and it turned out awesome.

There are rieslings I believe and some white grapes that taste like concords that are my favorites. There are also some pinks that my mom has dibs on as well as blck concords and thompson seedless (6 varieties in all but I can't remember what the #6 one is). I also have all that winemaking stuff out in the barn and some carboys. as always, grape yield is dependent on how well I can keep the racoons from raping those vines. I just lost a shit ton of huge strawberries due to foxes pilfering them. all that was left was piles of fox crap full of strawberry seeds in them.

Get good at making your own booze, taxes are on the rise for booze and sugar and any items made with lots of sugar. Tobacco showed the way to easy taxations.

Yeah, if I had to I could make wine from the frozen Welsh's stuff in the freezer section. Hopefully it'll never come to that.
