What do you guys think of these panel mock ups?

The layout is what I want but I'm not sure about the art.
Forgetting about the color scheme, am I on the right track?

    i like configuration E
its more contemporary compared to the other oldschool-esque designs.. theres nothing wrong with oldschool, jut as long as the cabinet matches the theme.. i just like an updated look

what color are you planning to paint the cab?
and whats going to be the contrasting color?

me personally, dont like lighted buttons much.. i have to see more in action to make a better judgement.
the video i saw of the lighted buttons coming on in a pattern in different colors really "wow'd" me, but the color of them off is ugly (stale white)

I agree but then again, the only time the buttons would be off is when I'm not playing it.

As far as the color scheme goes, I really have no idea. I was thinking of a mostly black cab with white t-molding but I don't know what an accent color would be.

Other than the cabinet itself, I'm going towards a more utilitarian cab over an old school one.
If you check out byoac.com you can see some examples of some nice looking cabs (on their forums).

    Look at F and H. I think there's something wrong with H.

All look fine, but I like A, C, and D least.

So B, E, G, or I. And I like I best, because of the color. I'd experiment with color on the others.

lol good eye. I was playing with a slightly different joystick surround on H (but only on the left stick) and I wanted to see if anyone noticed it.

Here are some of my favorite panels:

    daaammnn look at those!

i like the slender sticks like in the first picture (but there has to be one classic ball stick for those uber old classics)
    trackball in the center
button layout like the ones in the second and third

NO white tmoulding, please dont do that!
stick with red, blue, purple, or a spicy green color
    black cabinet

im still torn between the lighted and non lighted buttons..
they'll only look good in a dim lit room..

    Just a little update:
I'm ordering my parts today and hopefully by next week the building will begin. And I'm sorry torx I have to go with white molding, every cab I've seen that was black and had white molding looked nice.

On a side note; I was looking through examples and making sure I wasn't going to do anything stupid with this cab and I came across this thread:
    My 1st Project: 6ftx6ft M.A.M.E

After I read the first couple of posts I saw this pic and couldn't stop laughing:

edit: what!?! white?! are you kidding me?? this isnt some kitchen or bathroom appliance :p
i hope you arent building that huge 4 player panel like in that thread... thats just rediculously huge and players on the corners have a poor viewing angle it looks like,.

Ok here are a little bit better pics. I've finished routing the slots for the t-molding and I'm currently working on a monitor mounting system (so far it's a pain in the ass!).

Ok so I got a little bit more done today. The cab is assembled (as in glued up and on casters). Next to do is mount the monitor.

I basically took the dimensions from two cabs, mortal kombat and elsids, both of which you can get at jakobud.com, I then created my own plan in mspaint and filled in the dimensions of sides that matched up with the other cabs and just filled in the rest using math:p

It's actually a little bigger than I wanted but for a two player cab there will be plenty of room.

And I didn't even know they made 4:3 in HD (besides PC monitors.)
