had my x1300 installed for a while and no problems so i figured i'd run it through 3dmark03... good God my volari must have sucked ass, pulling a 450something score and the x1300 now pulls 3607 with no clocking. then i went to check out the ORB for 03 and something is seriously wrong because the lowest x1300 scores 5-6000. is my celeron slowing me down? and it is an AGP card but i've never seen that have any effect before. Quick specs CPU: 2.0GHz Celeron Northwood MB: P4M80-M4 GPU: X1300 RAM: 512MB DDR400 (according to PCWizard its at 1-1-1-1(NO BULLSHIT)) planning on getting a CPU upgrade anyway and ~50 for a 2.4 Northwood P4 with 800 bus at newegg sounds alright. i'll be running 3dmark05 and 06 as your reading so expect updates.
1-1-1-1?? isnt cas 1 memory super expensive? It is most likely the celeron that is slowing you down. Upgrading to 1 gig of ram would be the next step after the cpu.
its either A-Data or V-Data ram that i bought a while ago for $40 when i got my motherboard. rated for CAS 2.5... no heatsink and i've ran it on memtest86+ or whatever its called for over 24 hours and no errors with the settings i have now. alright, next update: obviously 3dmark05 (my skills in mspaint really shine here) now for 06: got lazy so no identifying marks on this one but here they are i'll do a reboot and write down everything related to my RAM.
looks like the computer made me a liar(thanks a lot CPUID): DRAM speed 200 CAS latency 2 bank interleave 4 precharge to active (trp) 2 active to precharge (tras) 5 active to cmd (trcd) 3 ref to act/ref (trfc) 9 act(0) to ACT(1) 2 read to precharge (trtp) 2 write to read cmd (twtr) 1 write recovery time (twr) 2 dram comand rate 1 Rdsait Automatic most of the settings shown are the lowest that i could select so there might be more to be had. running at 2.65 volts oh yeah and i have no idea what most of the labels mean i just wanted to see how far down i could get them while running at ddr400
You have a low-end graphics card, with not enough RAM, and not enough processing power. That's where your scores are killing you. If you tried to OC your Celeron to three gigahertz, you might be able to get better. I can't even remember what my scores are. It's been awhile since I've ran 3DMark anything on my PC, but I'm sure my 3.2Ghz P4, with 2GB Ram, and 256MB 7800GS would do better than that.
3dmark 2003. tiny overclocked 20mhz clock increase. - athlon64 3200+ - 1.5gig ram - saphire x850xt pci-e results: - Farcry increase 2 fps?? - Dark Messiah increase 4 fps?? - FEAR increase 0 fps??? 3Dmark 2003: score 7069 to 7293 gt1 212.1 to 214.4 gt2 45.2 to 47.0 gt3 41.7 to 43.3 gt4 48.7 to 50.5 fill rate single 2978.7 to 3116.5 pixel shader 113.2 to 118.1 vertex 36.1 to 37.5 just something for you to compare with.
I just got my 8800gts and wow! TRL is a whole different gam now and TRA is so much smoother and .....well, the menu screen has some booby bounce now.
looks like newegg just dropped the 2.4 that i was looking at... Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! thats all of the 478s they have left. geeks.com: either a refurbished 2.6 northwood or a 3.0E (prescott?)... i dont want something used but i also dont want to need a cooler the size of my foot(size 10, just for refrence)... whats going to benefit me the most for the price? and yes i know: new MB, and C2D. trust me, thats the plan in my next build. this is going to be the last upgrade for the 478 machine. heres what i came up with so far: Newegg.com - Arctic Silver Ceramique Thermal Compound - OEM arctic silver Newegg.com - Rosewill RCX-Z200 92mm Ball CPU Cooler - Retail rosewill cooler i'm not sure what the cooler master i have on now is rated for... that and with a 92mm fan i can upgrade using a regular case fan with 3 pin power connector that moves more air, which is more than i can say for the 60/70 mm fans on everything else.
