So, I was called again...and I'm not looking forward to it. Last time I was summoned, I sat in the waiting room for about 5 1/2 hours with no one calling me. Our "service" was done as we waited in the waiting room...

Quick question about attire...Do you have to go business casual? Could I get by with nice jeans, shoes and button-down shirt? I know it's my civic duty to blah blah but truth is, I feel like I'm going to be sitting down all-day tomorrow so I'm not really looking to put much effort into this.

I say dress however you want to really. Im sure bus. casual is appreciated, but i'd also say you're more likely to get called if you dress so :p

Also, maybe someone can answer this for me...
I had jury duty awhile back but ended up completely forgetting to call. I never received anything in the mail afterwords mentioning anything. Is it safe to assume I wasn't called on?

Do they pay you for your time ?? If they do is it worth the long hours of wait??

They do, but it's not nearly worth what your time is. Most employers (depending on your state), are required to pay you for days you service jury duty.

If you weren't excluded from service, you may want to call right away and get it straightened out... I wouldn't take a chance and let this linger. In most states, failing to appear for jury duty can be grounds for a warrant for your arrest.

I wear jeans everytime I go to jury duty (well except once, when I went to federal jury duty - didn't really know what to expect there). Just make sure they're clean, not too wrinkled, no holes/tears, etc. Button down shirt is fine, as long as all the buttons are buttoned and not just the top one.

you can wear whatever you want, i suggest wearing your underpants on the outside and goggles, big rubber gloves and insist nobody touch you, they might let you out of it

You can wear whatever. I've gone twice and there's always people in just t-shirt and jeans.

It's been quite awhile. About a year now i think?
I'd like to think I'd get something in the mail if I had a warrant :(

Last time i went i pissed off the judge in federal court. Because every question he asked i took the microphone and said something stupid to get myself out of jury duty. It worked i was out by 11am. I wore what i would wear normally.

I call bullshit on the warrant. They have to be able to charge you with a crime to put out a warrant for your arrest, and I know you can get in some kind of shit for not going but I really don't think there is a crime for not showing up for jury duty.

And usually cops will call you if they have a warrant for you, or send a letter in the mail. Unless it's for FTA, in which case they do nothing except put the warrant out.
