Gasoline pump price dips as crude tumbles: government | U.S. | Reuters WTF? the cost of crude down 12% and a savings at the pump of 1%.
Nothing surprises me anymore, nothing. I heard yesterday Venezuelans pay $0.12 a gallon for gas. I almost cried lol.
This thread reminds me of a thread from a year and a half ago where I proposed putting up a investment to hedge rising cost of gasoline. (see here) If you were able to put up an investment of 5000 dollars at the time (or not even that much; I believe Internet brokers, for example, will give people up to 10 to 1 margins... so that's a 500$ investment) in OIH, which follows oil closely, you'd have a profit of just over $1800 (minus fees). I'm just saying, It's something to think about.
Price at the pump is always equal to the greater of the two: The price they paid for the gas in the holding tank (which was bought at the previous rate) OR the cost it will take to fill the holding tank (which is still high because the oil from a month ago is still being refined which cost that significant amount more) Thus why a flux in oil price wont immediately have an effect on pump price - after a couple weeks if that price of oil remains low then you will see some definitely drops in pump price.
i've seen 3.79 around here, that's down like 30-40 cents from a few weeks ago. move off the coast my friend Milwaukee Gas Prices
that's because Venezuela has a government owned petrol company and they regulate gas prices. yea it would be nice, they just have to sacrifice rights. wouldn't be too bad hey... CNN/Money: Global gas prices The problem with American's (no offense wiskas) is that we fucking cry too much. We're about 20th on that list. People in other countries are paying 2$ more a gallon than we are. My car and motorcycle get about 45mpg highway, I have no problems, quit driving your SUV's and stop crying. Walk to work, take the bus ride a fucking bike. supply and demand is the game, petrol supply is higher than ever, get off your lazy fucking American ass and walk. less demand there will be more supply and that means prices will go down. I'm so sick of people crying about gas prices when they drive some 10mpg monstrosity to pickup a kid from school, and when asked why they drive it, it's because they "need" it. we don't "need" anything except food water and shelter. It's a convienence, a convienence that a lot of people don't have.
Do those countries that pay more than us have to commute as much as us? Do they have a better public transportation system than we do?
Walk to work? Mmmmm-K Come to think of it, there isn't much work to "walk"to anymore. Food +30% increase, shipping +25% increase, fuel +30% increase, utility bills +30% increase, wages - 60% decrease. Get the picture. Those "other countries" that pay so much for fuel, are going to be the ones that break the cycle of mercilessly being the chumps of american/international big oil price gouging. Crowd-sourcing the e-car | Technology | Reuters. With our lazyness and addiction to the easy way out, we'll be left behind and the only big oil chumps left. BTW, I do drive fuel efficient vehicles. beside: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html#Econ
I wasn't going off on you wiskas, i know how it is, i've got a van full of tools myself. I was more or less going off on the 25 housewifes i've seen today parading around in 10mpg suv's because they think it gives them social status.
yeah, seeing that pushes my buttons in a big way too. I tell you, i'm about at my wits end. Just to scrounge up a few jobs, it costs a minimum of $40 a week. and that doesn't come out of the Gas fund.....there is no "gas" fund. Just the debt payoff fund, essential services fund (elect, rent etc) and what's left is for gas and groceries. My gas cost $50 last week and all there was for food was $45 for two people. The doctor bills aren't getting paid much and there's alot more of those going to be happening. almost enough to put a person in "tower killing mode".
