Scarey shit alright. The scariest part is that not one single thing has changed, not a single lesson learned and rinse-and-repeat is what we'll get. ITYS

Power and money, money and power. It's been the same story for all of recorded human history. I'm convinced at this point there's no way around it. Wiskas has the right idea, he went off the grid and flashed them his ass on the way out.

There is always a way around it but the question is, does anyone care. 5000 years of Chinese culture says human nature is to not care so long as your life isn't in danger.

For me, it just got imposible to ignore the blatant corruption and scam crap. It's in-yer-face 24/7/365. When you remove yourself from the corral and stand outside the fence you see the near humor in it all. They push the envelope a bit more and people get used to that, get to the point that it's ignore-able, then it's rinse and repeat ad infinitum. Maverics represent! there's no shame in being a maveric, especially when you see the wolves taking prey from members of the herd everyday. People are quite unlike herds in nature, where the loners are the ones that get picked off. Instead, the numbers work against the population when the people won't do anything about the constant ass raping.

There's two sides to that coin of course. Imo, the rate at which things are encroaching on the public's interest is the equal or slower than the rate at which society is making advances. Used to be that the dollar was backed by gold... however during that same time it was also true that people died from things like fucking polio. Ridicules. Used to be that products were made to last generations... however it also used to be that buttsecks was frowned upon. Again, ridicules. Decline and advancement exist together... as one end is whittled away, the other grows longer. What you have today though is a media that sets off this feedback loop of negativity. All they show is the bad stuff, and people respond with their own forms of negitivity. Xenophobia, pessimism, cynicism. These things breed tension, which can lead to conflicts which can lead to more bad stuff ending up on the news, starting the whole cycle over again.

Is it a wonder why it is so many cops are assholes? It's because they have this ultra narrow experience with other humans, and those humans happen to be the worst of the worst. They know what they see, and what they see is shit people. But that narrow view can account for the majority of their waking hours. They end up treating the world as they think it deserves to be treated. Regular people can get the same way when all they read is bad news... and as you say, it's in your face 24/7/365.

You can't change the world by limiting your exposure the ugly parts, but you can change your world. People may shit on you and say your just turning a blind eye to this or that, but what of it? Perception is reality. A little willful ignorance can be healthy. You don't need to hear about every murder that happened that day, or every celebrity devorce, or everyones stupid gripes on twitter. That shit'll wear you down. Save yourself for the important shit, the shit you can't have your head in the clouds for. If you come in with no tread on the tires to begin with your going to burn out and be depressed. Misery loves company, so be on guard... don't let THEM drag you down too.

Lol thank you for illustrating my point;)

Your view is held by the majority which is why a corrupt government or corrupt system will continue to get worse and will unlikely correct itself.

I've seen all I want to see, that doesn't make me a pessimist. But to go along with smirnoff's line of reason, let's look at the total oposite. A society fed nothing but halmark channel and disney-esque slants on the world while this scam shit happens around them. Give me some credit smirnoff for time served/living long enough to see both extreems of views. Deciding to not play the games any longer is not running away from reality, it's common sense in my opinion. Anyone else that doesn't mind all modern society has become, that's on them, have a good time.

Besides: The media is not the place to recieve the real meat-n-potatoes. It's more or less a smokescreen.

I'm actually not sure the scam shit could continue in a purely hallmark media world. When I think about things like the patriot act, these internet crackdown bills, the bailouts... it took a lot of fear-mongering to push these things through. If the media weren't able to manufacture fear where would the motivation to sacrifice our freedom "for the greater good" come from?

The whole Hallmark media era of "My Three Sons", "Leave It To Beaver", and the like was itself the ultimate scam, that invented a "Good Old Days" that never existed in reality, but still lives in people's minds.

That said, corruption is a part of human nature. Even the Founders understood this, and designed an overlapping system so that there was never only one way to the top. The trick isn't to stop corruption, but to limit it's effects.

That said, Smirnoff is right in how we are soaked in the negative stories from around the Planet, while ten times the amount of good and selfless stuff goes unreported and unseen by us, giving us an overly biased negativity about the current society.

As for the Financial Empire, we've been building this ever since the Reagan era, and it's grown with the electorates eager participation. This works for the simple reason that humans are hard-wired to go for short term gains at the expense of long term advantage. We do it even when we think we aren't. This is what sustains all bubbles till they collapse. Even when folks know it's a bubble, they work at trying to grab a piece of the expansion while they can...
