Anyone know of a fix to get the data size of the folders in file manager? Ya know, similar to what longhorn is gonna offer, instead of clicking into a folder to see if theres something in there off to the right will show total file size of the folder's contents. or am i just gonna have to keep clicking into folders to see what i got?
http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/ thanks for getting me to look that up! edit: http://www.codeproject.com/shell/DirectorySize.asp and http://www.foldersizes.com/disk-space-tour/ , but this one looks to be a whole app itself, and it isn't free. The first link looks best to me.
that screenshot doesn't show folder sizes at all, only free space on drives. http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/ edit: doesn't seem to work for network drives though, maybe the codeproject url does.
no not like the picture above... like the column style "size" type" date modified" i want a "folder size" column.. NA MEAN!?!?
http://markd.mvps.org/home.asp 1) get dirsize.dll from that site 2) throw it in your Windows\System32 directory 3) register the dll start --> run --> regsvr32 %Systemroot%\System32\Dirsize.dll 4) Open a folder, switch to details view 5) Then go to View ---> Choose Details -- check Folder Size 6) Size the Folder Size bar (double click it, and then size as necessary) 7) Tools --> Folder Options ---> View tab ---> Apply to All folders (to apply to all folders)
the first 2 links I posted will do what you want(Jamsan's link will too). The sourceforge link is the easiest/simplest method, just run the installer. Obviously you still have to tell explorer to display the "Folder Size" column (and go into folder options-->view and click the "apply to all folders" button if you want it in every folder). edit: OK I'm not such a big fan of the foldersize.sourceforge method anymore. It works fine and all, but it puts an icon in the systray which I don't like. That said, you get access a few options through that icon. there's still my second link and Jamsan's, which I suspect are almost if not entirely identical.
the dll you mean... (right?) the second link I posted is for a dll too and you have to go through all the same dll registering.
i think i'm a bit off-topic but I thought this would come in handy.... http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview/
