Is there something that works faster than getdataback, it could take me 24 hours just to scan my 80GB drive. than another 10-20 hours to analyze it. is there something faster, or something that I can use that will just show the file tree, and I can pick what I want. I can't leave my system running for 30-40 hours.

Does the drive have bad sectors? That is way too long for an 80 GB.

BTW - OnTrack is a much better program than GDB.

program is called RestoreIT its pretty good, even if you don't have an os you can restore and stuff, well by not having an os if it crashes or something.

I used On track recently on a friends hd in my pc -- it took around an hour or two (cant remember), to scan the harddrive, and then it took 9-10 hours to recover 40gb worth of data...

this was with an 80gb external drive -- your computer will probably be on 20 hours at most if your recovering the full 80GB of data, but probably a lot less since its connected through ATA/SATA, and not USB.

I had to edit someone's partition table using hex last week... fixed it without a hitch

Ontrack is bad ass, but I couldn't find what I needed. One problem I had with OnTrack was that it would do the complete scan (23 mins.) then as I was going through the drive searching for the files I needed, It would freeze up. I need files I deleted about 2 weeks back, and I cant seem to find them. I must have re-written those sectors. Oh well it was just about 60 CS:S sprays....no big loss.

What kind of scan did you perform? A raw data scan seemed to provide the best results.
