So in the Spring I bought my Mom a 2011 Honda fit. Fun to drive, great gas mileage, yada yadda. Anyway, by the end of summer she was complaining that the windows were "fogging up" and that sometimes the rear windows wouldn't roll up. Took it back to the dealer twice, couldn't find anything wrong...

Flash forward to this morning and I run into my Mom at the grocery store, she's in a tizzy because there's so much condensation inside her car that "moisture is just rolling down on the inside". So I walk out to the parking lot to have a look, and as I suspected the air was set to recirculate. "Mom, are you telling me that you've been driving around with two big dogs for 9 months and have never set the AC to pull in fresh air?" That was the answer. Moisture build up.

So, now I've got a tech question. The real problem that prompted the retarded AC setting was that the air to the floor on the car doesn't really get very hot. I drove it and sure enough, hot out of the top vents but only luke warm on her feet. Anything I can do to resolve that? I'm thinking that has to be something Honda can actually resolve for her.

I'm not sure if it's something that Honda can fix, but it's something that all of my Honda cars have done, the Passport didn't do it but it's an Isuzu. So, I'm thinking it has something to do with how Honda pulls heat off the engine block and transfers it to the passenger compartment.

Ah! OK, good to know. Heat in CR-V has been normal I guess, but to be honest I generally don't run the heat unless it gets in the 20s. Viking body FTW!

Sounds like a lack of insulation on the ducts that go to the floor if it blows hard on top and bottom about equally but the bottom is not as warm. If the floor isn't blowing as hard (keep in mind most cars blow harder out of the top vents due to less restrictive ductwork) as it should it could also be a blend door issue. If it's under warranty, take it in and have them check it out. The temperature differential from vents to floor shouldn't be noticeable.

Yeah, it's a temp difference and not reduced output. I'll probably call and speak with the service manager personally, my ding-dong mother has been sending them on a wild goose chase for months so I doubt they would believe a word she says at this point.
