I have been running Beta 2 for about a week. Beta 3 just came out. It's much faster than Firefox 2.x -- and has been rock solid so far. I recommend you guys upgrade from Firefox 2 as soon as possible.
The only other features I've noticed so far are the bookmarking feature, which now keeps track of your most visited sites, so you don't need to sort through bookmarks. Also it has tags for bookmarks. The biggest improvement I've seen though is the speed. It's about as fast as Opera now. Before it was much slower (for me anyway).
neat..I was about to start downloading it when I saw this thread...but 3b2 is already doing it for me edit: I like it. the back/forward buttons look better now. The thing I really wished they would do, is allow multiple homepages on startup. I want to start up firefox and have T3d, BBC news, reason.com, and hotmail tabbed out and ready to go for me. so far no one has done this. (as far as I know)
i thought torx asked the same question a while ago and figured out a way. i could be wrong, but that scenario sounds so familiar.
You can. Under Tools -> Options -> Main -> Home Page Type | between URLs. Like.. http://tweak3d.net | http://digg.com | http://gmail.com
I like it so far. I'm not sure if bookmarking feature is the terminology for it but I do like when you type something into the address bar it gives all related results stored in history with those letters (not just the first letters, any letter used).
It's speedier.. but do add-on work with it?.. I'll answer my own question. 90%of my add-ons do not work with FF3 Beta 3.
I don't know because I always remove the Home button in my custom chrome settings, but Alt-Home gets you to your home page.
One thing that I like about FF 3 beta 3 is I usually increase the size of the font on webpages and it remembers the size of the font I had on that page.
Yes, I've got the thing running with spinners and a fuzzy veal steering wheel. Trust me, it's not end user as evidenced by two of us with the same issue.
IE7 can do that as well. That's right, I brought up IE. Sorry guys, I've moved to the dark side. Let the lashings commence. It's (IE7) actually pretty pleasant to use, I have it on my work laptop and use it almost exclusively (minus some dev testing stuff). I really don't feel compelled to go (back) to firefox for work stuff. I still use it at home, but thats just out of habit.
Anyone else had problems with Firefox 3 beta and their online bill payments, or anything of that nature?
No, but I have had major problems with the bookmarking system. I created a folder for things and can't drag bookmarks to it. Also, if I manually choose the bookmark to appear there, it simply doesn't. The page still has a star by it, and I can see it in the Recent Bookmarks menu at least. =/
