There has been a pretty serious fire from the forward compartment of the USS Miami. There are only 4 designed entrances/exits on these boats, so not too easy to escape. Reports have surfaced that some of the emergency personnel have suffered injuries from this casualty. Keep the crew in your thoughts and prayers. http://www.boston.com/news/local/ne...reported_on_sub_at_portsmouth_naval_shipyard/ ~Will Courtier~
BOOOMMM!!!! shit like that scares me, especially in ports like that. lots of chemicals and wastes, etc all around. seeing smoke or fire like that gives me goosebumps. at any second it could be BBOOOOOM! and bodies flying
Reports this morning are saying there have been 7 injuries from the fire, no fatalities. Shit's crazy, thankfully nobody died!
Picture because at work and too much of a pain to search a URL. Edit: Found google news link: http://www.google.com/hostednews/af...ocId=CNG.3fab33c2e7c8facc2c3351763af178e8.741
Damn, started the fire on purpose. 400 million down the drain because of some lazy, neurotic contractor...
Yep. I guarantee that he will spend the rest of his life smashing big rocks into small rocks. Don't even consider the monetary value of damages, consider the poor sailors that will get an. Extra 3-6 months added onto their already 6-8 month deployments. The extra stress and time away from home for them will be priceless. Someone has to cover the upcoming deployment of that boat until she's fixed. I am going through a school with a few shipyard workers from that shipyard (this guy's coworkers). They said it's turned into an event that could stop work amung the entire shipyard for a while. That shipyard doesn't exactly have a stellar record for quality control (remember the USS Thresher?). ~Will Courtier~
Ohhhhhh.......that shipyard? The contractor's liability policy will probably cover up to 10 mil and bond another 2 mil, but still.
