No. I am only signed up for one social site because it was cool catching up with old friends a couple years ago but now its just gay and annoying. How many different sites do people have to sign up for just to say the same thing every day?
I have one, but I stopped using it because I came to this realization. To those that use it religiously: just go back and read your past tweets. They sound completely ridiculous.
I find it useful for getting news and information I care about without having to have a huge bookmark list of different secular/humanist & political blogs.
I don't have a twitter account, may open one in the future but I doubt it. I am enjoying seeing NCSoft devs using Twitter to keep fans updated on changes and information about Aion.
i got an account but dont use it twitter is really good for up to date news on technology and product news from vendors.. thats about it. i could care less about you sitting on the toilet or getting hammered at the local pub. and im not much of an active person to let everyone know what im doing. nothing interesting enough in my life to let everyone in on it. Some people need to realize this and just sit out of the twitter phenom.
Yep, I follow several linux dev sites and tech sites, it is shorter than RSS headlines and is more matter of fact.
Well, get used to the tweet. Whether or not anyone likes them, they are here to stay and a huge area of marketing is shifting to those "social media" venues. I plan a twitter page at a later date. It's where the web is headed with mobile as well as desktop computing.
The old man speaks the truth. Like it or not, the web which you loved for so long is shifting and you are no longer the ring bearers. Sad I really don't care about twitter and social networks but I have accounts. Call me a hypocrite but when it comes down to it, I enjoy using twitter for the information that comes my way without having to look for it, that and some interested conversations that otherwise might be hard to have. I use twitter often, but find that it sucks a lot of time so I tend to only focus on it when I am bored. I am sure I miss a lot of great stuff but I don't have time to watch it continuously. I don't update a lot because I don't feel like making mindless updates like "I am taking a shit!" Anyways, in a few years tweeting or whatever it will be called will be as normal as texting or using your cell phone. Just wait.
If you're an interesting person, then by all means feel free to expose the world to those who only see it through the glow of a computer screen. But god damn does it just seem like a bunch of self important normal people with mundane lives.
What was that saying? Oh yeah: "never say never" . Web 2.0 is all about social networking enhancements to the web we grew up with. This isn't designed to cater to us old farts or the thirty somethings. it's aim is to be in position for the teens of today when they have the money we all control now. sadly, the huge national debt may put sa bit of the ol' kaibausch on those long range marketing plans.
I've not gotten one because I think it's stupid. But I thought the same thing about Facebook and use that all the time.
No...facebook status updates are plenty for me. I don't want people knowing what I'm doing every hour of the day.
Come to think of it I don't even update my Facebook status anymore. I post / view pics, videos, and short blogs. Generally about the movies we're watching. And chat with friends of course.
i use it but i'm on a lot of these social networking sites. but i use hellotxt so it updates my status on everything. that way my friends/family/customers/coworkers can follow me on whatever they use. so it's not like I go out of my way to use twitter, it's just one of the sites hellotxt can post to at the same time. facebook is probably the only social networking site I actually voluntarily log onto to check stuff.
Yes. Crowebaby I like it because when I'm out somewhere it's easy to just tweet where you are rather than just text every single friend. (You can also update your facebook through twitter )
i originally thought it was dumb, then created one to follow local businesses (coupons!) and news outlets. now people pay me to make backgrounds for them, so i figured I should practice what I preach, and I'm kind of addicted to it. I really don't use facebook much anymore... just to see what my friends are up to.
