Disc drive over-spinning

both my cd, and dvd rom drive overspin and freeze the whole computer. there is a solid green light and i have to eject the disc to unfreeze the computer... how can i fix thisss?

Sounds like you're running your optical drives in PIO mode instead of DMA.

so i can change this through bios? And how will switching to DMA effect me?

okay i checked if my IDE is DMA or PIO, and it is set to DMA if avaliable.. hmm?

You might go back and check the individual drives in the device manager, and see what they are set to. I had this problem with my MSI motherboard because it used some odd-ball IDE controller (to be backwardly compatible). I had to download and install a driver, and it treats the IDE controller like a RAID controller. Weird stuff, and it took me a while to get it working.

ok i think i know why this happens, bu i havnt fixed it...

It's my starcraft CD that i have sitting in there, and i thinkbecause it dosnt load the starcraft menu it trys again every now and then..
