    ...over the Internet.

I haven't used my card in months, and I went to check my online statement today and I see this:

I went directly to the site and they don't even sell anything. They just have a page for inquiries about credit card charges. WTF?!

Ugh, I am so pissed off. And I don't even have access to a phone to cancel my credit card.

    What should I do?

I can't even afford Ramen this week. My aunt mailed me a pre-paid cellphone for my birthday, it should get here Mon/Tues.

I disputed the charge on the Capital One site. I'm just REALLY pissed right now.

    Fucking foreigners.

Call the credit card company (the 800 number on the back) IMMEDIATELY. They'll remove the charges, but not if you wait too long. Just tell them there are fraudulent charges on your card and ask they be removed. Don't settle for less.

I disputed the charge online, since I won't have access to a phone until Mon/Tues. I've been paying it off little by little and even paid on 9/17. The charge was on 9/10.

They'll definitely remove it since the charge was to Zimbabwe, I just hate the inconvenience.

I'm surprised you card company didn't call you. When I charge stuff in foreign countries my credit card company calls me. "Did you buy something in Nicaragua?" "Yeah, that was me..." :)

Well I'm away from home at the moment, so the number listed under my name is probably at my Mom's house.

Though, I'm pretty sure she would've told me if they called through e-mail or AOL.

    Weird.

    Well, South Africa.. Whatever.

This happened to my Mom last year while we were still in New Jersey. She never entered the card online and the same goes with me. I've never used it online, ever.

I'm disputing the charge, then I'm gonna just cancel the card, cut it up, and pay it off.

    Lol.

At this point it's going to have to wait until Monday. I also forgot to mention that the 50.00 fraudulent charge put the card over it's limit. So even if someone has the information, there's nothing they can do with it at this point.

The minute I get my pre-paid cellphone in the mail from my Aunt, I will make the call.

I'm not questioning what country in africa it came from, I'm just wondering how the hell did someone over there get enough info to make a purchase.

I'm guessing a compromise in the store to credit card company chain.

I doubt credit card generators work anymore.. With the CVV number on the back or w/e it is.

So, I called yesterday morning when I got my cellphone in the mail from my aunt.

They said that they saw a pending charge dispute that I entered online, and that there was nothing they could do until that was solved. I asked if I should cancel my card, and the Indian guy (working from home, kids screaming in the background) says "Well, that's up to you".

So, I check my account today and notice I have an "over limit" fee, FROM the fraudulent charge. WTF? I wasn't over my limit until the fucking foreigner charged up my card.

I was really pissed about it and my room mates asked me what was wrong, and I told them. They proceeded to tell me that the credit card company won't reverse the over limit fee because the fraudulent charge from South Africa was "my responsibility" no matter what. Is this the norm? Sometimes I think they're just out to piss me off.

Your roommate is a jackass. If you ended over the limit because of a fraudulent charge, then yes they will remove it. Capital One is really good about this kind of thing. I had someone steal my statement out of the mail which had my credit card number on it and someone used it to buy about $300 worth of porno DVDs. I called, and they reversed the charge THAT DAY. If the guy on the phone didn't help you, I would ask to speak to a manager.

Wow thats bullshit. Sucks man. I am always worried about buying stuff online. For now on don't order any South African escorts with your cc online. Go back to cash. And for the love of god, where a condom.

No but really. Hope you get your money back. Closest thing I had was someone stealing my Ebay account and selling a bunch of shit on my account. They were somewhere in Africa too.

Yeah, call again and this time ask for a manager. The charge and the over limit fee need to be gone ASAP.

Cap one is good about crap like that. They've been helpful, you just need to get ahold of someone that gives a damn about being helpfull. Worst thing about current day outsourcing, is that not many in other countries actually give a damn about helpfulness and aren't affraid to show it.

After a month of fighting with these people, they took the fraudulent charge off, but I'm still disputing the over limit and past due fees that I've accrued since that fraudulent charge put me over my limit. I'm now another $120.00 in the hole, and I receive $80 in charges every 15 days I don't pay the minimum.

It's bullshit. They think I'm just going to succumb and pay it. I'll take them to court before I pay fees I shouldn't have to. I should be back to well under my limit like I was before some African fucker charged my card.

I know some of you say Capital One is pretty reasonable, but so far my experience has been anything but.

i actually heard capital one is the worst.... not like that helps, shit sucks man. one time i signed up for the annual credit report for free from the different credit agencies that they have to give you legally and experian ended up charging me like 40 bucks for some credit monitoring shit, i had to snake through their website a few times and had a few hour long phone calls about how it was bullshit and they need to fix it, it took a few times for them to actually do it.

credit cards are a bitch if you cant stay on top of them

My mom never used her credit card online and one day we get a call that there was a transaction in Norway. Someone used her credit card to buy books on a online shop. My Mom never used her card on the internet. It's scary how people find this shit out.
