I was making a left turn that merges into a left hand lane where traffic doesn't stop. The rear end got squirley, I couldn't go right because I was parallel with another car and ate the median. I called the cops but they never showed up... Pictures will follow. Damage report: Front bumper, hood, headlights, both front quarter pannels, rear bumper, rear left quarter panel, driver side wheels and tires, rear driver axle.
Good thing you're alright. Although I wouldn't have called the cops if I didn't hit anybody else, that's just me. They'd show up and give you a ticket for failure to control on top of you having to pay your deductible or whatever, just seems unneeded. How did you manage to fuck up the hood and rear quarter by hitting the median? I could see the bumpers ripping off, and maybe creasing a fender, but I would think the wheels and axle/suspension components would take the hit, and not the quarter. P.S. ...a front "quarter panel" is called a fender. :]
The median is a cement pillar, when I hit it I mostly side swiped it. The hood comes down low I have no idea how I got that.
The claims adjuster says it's totaled. I was told "he just didn't want to figure out how much it would cost." The front frame rails are bent. Even still the car is worth over 14K... we'll see.
It might be totaled to the insurance company, but chances are it's fixable. Hard to say without seeing pictures though. Check out CertaFit (SortaFit) for replacement parts. Replace smashed up parts, and sell. :]
If the insurance co/adjuster looked it over, then the total is recorded and will show up on a carfax.
