Ok, so i got my 2.4C out of the other box and put my 2.6C into it (hte 2.4 has a better OC). When i took the 2.6C out, the AS5 that was on it kind of pulled it out of the socket with out lifting the lever up and bent some of the pins on it. I got them straightened out but now windows runs extremley slow, even for the CD repair manual. So did i dammage the CPU and should send it to intel to get it fixed (if i can), or do i just need to reinstall Windows.
What kinda of temps is it running? You could have not properly seated the heatsink on and it is getting really hot and slowing the clock speeds so it doesnt burn up.
in like the first minute it could get that hot? i'll check it out but the heatsink is kind of hard to fuck up. Its a Zalman ALCU CNPS 7000 i believe it is.
It can get hot in a second... I rememeber not mounting a heatsink on an old AMD chip of mine, and the asus c.o.p. would shut the thing down as soon as I turned it on. I had no idea what it was doing, and then finally figured it out.
