I think it's amazing how blindly people follow things without doing their own research. Well why should I, there still is two party system in america.

For the most part, to put a blanket statement about piracy being illegal is more correct than not, but its not always illegal. I don't pretend that downloading movies, music, games, tv shows, or software is legal or something everyone should be doing, but to put a blanket statement over all use of bittorrent as illegal or most of it as illegal is just wrong. To be honest, it is probably why it hasn't picked up as well for legitimate uses is because of that stigma.

What comcast is doing is illegal, and quite frankly quite annoying. They aren't doing it to fight piracy no matter what they say. They are doing it so discourage people using their connections. Comcast and other cable providers oversell their connections and don't offer any guarantee of any level of service. Why do you think they don't advertise the download or upload speeds?

They are making fake packets that tells the downloader (not you) that you are closing the connection, and tells the uploader (you) that they are closing the connection. Some people have it set to ignore. At least thats what it used to be like. Now they might be upping the ante and going for anything torrents.

I don't care about caps on connections and things like that, as long as I know about it before I pay for the service. If we were in europe, comcast would have been sued 10x over now for the shit they pull.

Here is proof of legitimate bt usage asshats: Now Playing - Download Movie, TV, Music, and Game Torrents from BitTorrent

this is strike two for comcast, (strike one is just poor uptime and constant outages)

strike three is when they throttle newsgroup access.
i'll either kill myself, or suck it up and go cold turkey by tethering with my cell phone.

I had a similar experience last night, all of a sudden my internets stopped working. Turns out the whole area was down.
