They have to do something (the ISP's) because the MPAA and RIAA are going after them.

are encrypted trackers/traffic working still? That blows dude. Call and whine and complain, maybe it will get something done.

If that happens to me, I'm just going to start tunneling to work and doing it through there. We have a T1 and Covad won't meter shit. Here's hoping it won't come to that though.

As an aside: I couldn't fall asleep last night, only got about 2 hours worth. Just found out my 7 hour day turned into 12. Gyaaaaaaaaaah

I just started downloading at night with my ISP. That way, I never had to worry about being throttled, AND...I can download a movie overnight and share a little bit of it as well.

I like you guys, nearly all of you, but that (downloading torrents of movies, games etc.) shit is stealing.

    Wack, yo.

I mean, it's lame that that happens, but what I don't understand is why people think they have the right to steal.

I'm not trying to get all preachy and say "don't download, its bad!" but when the consequences for your actions finally come, do you really think you have a right to be upset?

So how does it work, do they just look at people using the most bandwith from an area and then check as to what they are downloading, and base the throttling off that? Obviously torrents have legit uses as well.

yea, the last time i checked it is illegal? How can you blame comcast. The last thing they want is any sort of fine or legal action set against them. I think I have been off torrents for a good 2 years now. Just not worth the risk of getting caught.

QFT. The studios and record companies invest in producing media, it's stealing when we don't pay them for their services. Don't get me wrong, I do it all the time. I just acknowledge that what I'm doing is illegal. I just don't feel particularly bad because of their pricing and enforcement tactics. If they were more reasonable about the price piracy would be a lot less of an issue. $30 for an HD disc? Suck my balls...

Imagine if companies weren't allowed to mark up beyond a 100% profit margin.

Im lucky to have At&t Uverse, its only got a 6 meg download speed but nothing is being blocked as far as I can tell. Theres a group online fighting back against Comcast and other isp's. Save the Internet : Fighting for Internet Freedom they will show you what comcast and other service providers have done illegally and how they are trying to stop them.

Well, take Miller for instance. I don't even think there are 200gb worth of Linux distros available, and if there are I doubt very much anyone would download them all in one month. At that point it's quite obvious that it's going way beyond legal usage. I'd bet good money that Torx was in a similar boat.

I'm in 950's position. I don't agree or disagree, but I'm also not going to pretend it's not illegal. Just because you think a law is stupid doesn't mean you're exempt.

haha, no. If they charge money for them it's piracy. TV isn't free, it's only "free" because it's ad supported. They still own the rights to all of the IP and can sue you for downloading or distributing it. Why do you think shit on youtube is constantly being pulled?
