I just shot carb cleaner into my eye while cleaning my carb. It fucking hurts, I cleaned it out. Fuck, it's almost swollen, and it burns like a mother fucker.

This is the first time that the "always wear eye protection" bullshit actually would have helped.

Keep on rinsing it with water, unless you don't do that you will lose your eye or at least sight in it for the rest of your life.

Lots of water every 10 mins or so I say. Give it a day or so and things should be ok.

I'm a BBS forum doctor so I know what I'm talking about. I appreciate you telling us instead of the poisen controll center, I mean really, what the hell do they know?

Well here's the story, now that I'm in relative comfort. I stuck the tip into a jet, and the cleaner just shot right back at me, straight into my left eye. A lot of it too, not just a little drop, like a serious stream, straight into the eye.

Now, about two hours later, the left eye is blurry. Fan-fucking-tastic. Hopefully it's not permanent.

Take a shot glass or other small glass, fill it with water, hold it tight to your eye, tilt your head back, open your eye, and move it around. Repeat. It's a crude eye wash, and while uncomfortable, will hasten you feeling better.

I've cleaned it out. The second it happened I ran to the hose and sprayed my eye, then ran to kitchen and stuck my head under the faucet, and kept it there for like ten minutes.

I've actually had that happen to me before. I was cleaning out a throttle body, getting the few but very clogged vacuum tube inlets and the nozzle was to close and sprayed right back at me ;)

That shit burns even bare skin, I can imagine what it feels like in your eye. I hope you got it rinsed out before it burned the tissue. sounds like you acted in a timely manner and you should be OK.....ouch!

carb cleaner actually just feels cold to the touch.. theres no burning unless it gets into an open sore or open flesh.. (at least with the several spray types ive used)

ive had it in my eyes, i think my contacts protected my actual eye...
didnt melt the contacts or anything.. i cleaned them and my eyes and continued to wear them.. might develop cancer in my eyes years from now.. but i got that carb cleaned!!!

    but yea, wear eye protection

Come to think of it I've had spray gun cleaner in my eye once, and that's basically carb cleaner. It hurt like hell but there was no perm damage.

PS - Regular carb cleaner just ruins the blueing / finish. It doesn't hurt anything else.
