So has anybody given an honest shot at using Bing? Google has been so good for so long that I think it's going to be hard to convert people. From what I hear from the people that have honestly tried it, they like it. A lot of people say it sucks but have never really tried it...just assuming it sucks because it's Microsoft. I love all of Google products but thought I'd give Bing a shot. We'll see how it goes.

Isn't it just Live.com rebadged? Microsoft lost the search engine war. No way they're converting me from Google. They should stick to stuff they're good at: OSes, consoles, and applications.

yes and that's what a lot of people say but have you actually used it for an extended period of time? Let's try to be fair here. Yes it's Microsoft and there is no way they are going to dethrone google in search but it's possible it's a better product and we don't even know it because we refuse to believe it. I'm not saying it is but just asking.

I gave it a try, but I wouldn't spend more than a few minutes there. It gave the same kind of results any non-Google search engine gives.

On the flipside, Google gives me the answer to just about any question I ask instantly and accurately... with the exception of spammy reseller sites but you can usually query around those if you've got some Google practice.

I'll try it again today for a few searches and let you know what I find.

I think I'll use it for a week or more for all my searches to get a good feel for it. One or two searches aren't enough to really judge.

A week! I make over 100 searches a day. If the site sucked, imagine how much lost productivity that is.. ;)

What does Google not do that you want Bing to do? I mean Google satisfies my searching needs about 100% of the time. What change is needed?

i don't know. just because we think google is perfect doesn't mean it is. Bing might be better. or maybe not. with that kind of thinking, we would never progress in our lives...

What if Bing introduced something that you didn't realize that satisfied your needs above what you already thought was 100%. Your 100% is only a perception at this time of what you "think" satisfactory searching is.
Back in the day I thought webcrawler was l337, until google...
But that's what reviews are for anyway. lol.

I havent used it normally, But i did think it was a brilliant idea to have the images enlarge when you mouse over them. Though im sure they didnt come up with it, I found it pretty neato.

It looks like just another search engine. The thing I always liked about Google is the only thing that has to load is a text field and a 9kb logo. There is no reason for anything else to be on a search engine splash page, and until someone else figures that out, I won't ever try another one.

I use their mapping software constantly. The software my work uses goes through bing for all their satellite imagery as well. The aerial photo's are pretty useful.

I don't really use it for info searching, though.

Like most things with Microsoft, they're about 5 years too late with this. It could be better than the Google search but I don't see the point in switching. Google usually finds everything I need. Since I use Gmail it doesn't make sense to switch over anyways.
