What are your guy's backup solution?

I have a 250 gig hard drive filled with to the rim and a 80 gig that's getting close as well. All I use is my Macbook which has 7 gigs free out of 80 gigs and now I'm wondering about backing up since I'd die if all my Music, and Videos/Movies crashed.

I'd like something more automated since it sucks hooking a IDE to USB device to backup stuff.

Keep in mind that FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit.

DVDs for the really important data like personal records/documents and my music collection. Everything else(video game ISOs, DivX movies, application packages, ghost images, etc) I just throw on my server. It has 4 320GB hard discs in RAID5. I have other discs of varying sizes to store temp data.

I would never put all my marbles in a single hard disc. CDs and DvDs are suppose to be readable for something like a hundred years so long as they are kept in good condition. A simple RAID1 NAS solution is enough for the bulk of most peoples personal data. That way a disc failure doesn't mean you are fucked.

I need to setup a backup system as well. I like the NAS that msp has. As long as I can setup automatic backups to that I'd be in good shape as I use the USB > IDE hookup to a bare HD for my most important goodies w/ a toolkit on a usb flash drive.

I actually have been running "manual" backups just because I'm paranoid. Meaning I manually fire off the jobs. The backups themselves are automated using the Windows XP Synch toy. Check it out, pretty cool:

    Download details: SyncToy v1.4

EDIT: And yeah, the 4GB file limit of FAT32 worried me as well. But it has yet to be an issue for me.

I run a 300 GB backup drive on auto BU. In addition, Vista backup onto one of two 500gb drives. It's time to burn to D/L DVD
