AOL sucks.... lol sorry had to say it. ;)

Anyways from what i read it seems that it's a vista issue.

Some people have said that running in compatibility mode helps

(right click the aol ico, click the compatibility tab, check "Run this program in Windows XP)

If that doesnt work. try using AOL desktop. they might have fixed the issue here.

AOL Desktop Version 10.0 - Discover AOL

Overall i'm certain you aren't out of memory.

Anyways good luck and let us know if it worked for you.

Or if that doesn't work and he wants to get rid of his laptop, why not reinstall and put XP on it then reinstall AOL?

Check the performance tab (or whatever it is on Vista) to see how much memory is actually being used before opening AOL. 2 gigs can be used up pretty quickly depending on everything the system is loading during boot.

Vista Ultomate can definitely use up a lot of resouces. I've used info for streamlining my installations from Black Viper. Good info, helped speed up my friend latest install of V. good luck
