It's 125meg d/l takes up 500 megs on HDD and supposed to use only 50 megs RAM. No IE or WMP. Thinking about playing around with it to see if it's any good or not unfortunatly I need IE in this version.
No, mine was just a stripped regular XP install. It still had IE, just no WMP MSmessenger etc. I would, personally use BartPE If knoppix wouldn't work.
I found a website six months ago that had a really good guide to creating a custom Win2K/XP installation CD with IE and a whole bunch of other stuff removed. I lost the link at some point and haven't managed to find it again, but it is nice not to have IE around, and my 2K install seems to boot much faster than a normal one.
Okay I installed this perfectly. Everything looked good until first boot I got that popup Your pc is shutting down in 60seconds, blaster or something? Can't remember, couldn't remember the run command to stop it either. Anyways! That happened first boot, only. So got my Nvidia drivers cd out, installed nforce / realtek and nvidia ethernet etc. rebooted, DVDRW refused to detect from this point on. And the Nvidia network card failed to detect. I plugged into my Realtek, which was installed fine, rebooted modem to renew mac address too - 'Aquiring network address'.... for like 20mins. Oh yes, and before this, from 'Welcome' to Windows, was taking 5mins. In safe mode it was fast. But there wasnt anything in startup. All in all, bit buggy. Had I got an internet connection through it I might have persued the problems I was having with the bootup taking so long. On a good note, it seemed to have alot of extra tweaks and was very very very fast inside windows. Tho windows is with fuckall installed .
