I went today and they have a fucking fingerprint scanner at the goddamn gate. I already paid the tickets so it's not like I could not do it. What a bunch of bullshit.
Call me tinfoil but I sure as shit don't want anyone having my fingerprint of any of my body's information on file.
I guess my question is, what's the point? They don't have anything to compare it to. No way of verifying it's actually you.
They have my name and credit card number, and while I don't know that they'll link the two now, I still don't like it. You can go somewhere to cash a check that doesn't do that. I'm not a felon, and nobody has any business with my information. Damn Wiskas, back me up here!
It's definitely crossing a line, if you ask me. I used to be firmly in the "If you've got nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about..." camp, but nowadays I don't trust the government at all and see this as a violation of civil liberty.
i agree its crossing the line. i remember couple years ago, fedex mandated a finger print scan from every employee or else you get booted. it was for the new hand scanners for clocking in/out. its like this but has a huge color lcd screen i dont even wanna know what kind of bacteria builds up on these things, its the most disgusting idea ever. Then i did my research on the machine and it doesnt even read fingerprints.. they out right lied to us just to get everyones fingerprint. Alot of people quit too because they didnt wanna give up their fingerprints.. so it is a serious issue to alot of people.
...are you sure it's not to keep you from giving someone else your pass so they can get in free? sea world has one of those things like torx posted specifically for that reason.
Maybe people who get banned from the park get their prints scanned so they can't return. Or the local pedo database is backing the scanner up so no fiddlers make it inside. Iunno.
yea thats the HP3000 model. cool technology but kinda disgusting... wall sanitizers are located next to each one, but half the time their empty or broken... If you were to use anything like this, wash your hands asap. kinda like this but a little more industrial built.
Freightliner had those in the mechanic shop when I worked there. We used them to clock in and out of work orders. Alot better than the stamp time-clock but yeah they are kinda gross if you think about it. On the other hand, chances were you had diesel soaked into your skin anyway.
I think giving your fingerprint is every bit as intrusive as giving your social security number. Especially if it's just to go to The Tiki Room or sit in a tea cup.
I'm against it too. I can't be sure about Disney world or the fingerprint reader you have to use when entering the USA for a holiday, but Every fingerprint I've ever seen doesn't actually take your finger print, it just measures the gaps between ridges on your finger. The better the reader the more ridges it measures.
