We have a "Nature Preserve" nearby which has a concrete and off road trails. Was looking for some trails running shoes and found these and really like them.

I've only recently started running again, and living in the city, I do most all my running in it...

That said, I am a big fan of trail running, and I have a pair of Montrail Hardrocks right now. (which they no longer make)

I've always enjoyed hiking but hate running. Fiddy why the extra cardio? I figured climbing trees all day would fill that quota. You've got to be in great shape already and I would figure TOO much cardio might burn more calories and might drain you physically by the middle of the day. Kinda like a weight lifter doing aerobics......might mess with his metabolism to the point where it's hard to put muscle weight on...........maybe? I dunno.

been running alot this summer, great wooded untraveled bluffs in Iowa. I used to use Merrell chameleons but they got so well used that the tread didnt provide enough traction anymore. Now I use the Salomon XA PRO 3D ULTRA GTX (long ass name).

Running gets my heart rate up to a much higher rate than it normally does at work, plus, gotta be able to outrun the zombies!

Too cold here at the moment for going out trail running/walking + by time i'm home from work it is dark.

The past summer though I was going through some trails near me, walking for most of it, with a little bit of running. Made me feel great, I find I get the best nights sleep after some fresh air and exercise.

But to give a more serious answer, I ran cross country for all 4 years and was on the varsity team (though was never very fast). I enjoy running and in a way find it to be sort of an essential skill/ability/level of fitness. One of my running goals right now is to do a 5:30 mile. (which is pretty slow for a good runner :p )

(I also sort of incorporate a little climbing/parkour into it)

I recently started running in these. So far so good. Before that it was some Solomon XT's, like Octane's.

Do you feel every rock on the trail? Where I run there are alot of exposed tree roots, loose rocks and you need to avoid the bikers on this narrow trail. I like some cushion but not so much you feel like you are running on pillows.

Ya you feel pretty much everything. Have to toughen up your feet a bit, I use them on dirt trails with not many obstacles.

I came in here to post about this.

I've seen some people with these, mainly at water events like sink holes and river tubing. I want them to try running though. How do you like them? Did your feet hurt at first while adjusting? How are they on wear and tear? Would you recommend them for bike riding?

how much does a good running shoe cost?
I am going through a background investication to get into the CHP academy and you are supposed to be able to run 3 miles 3 times a week and average an 8 minute mile.
I need me some good shoes!

You can easily get good running shoes for $60-$80 bucks, I'd recommend going to an actual running store to be properly fitted, rather than some crappy sports store.

Your feet get sore for sure the first couple times you wear them. But after a while it feels like you are barefoot with super tough soles of your feet. I love them for running on dirt trails. I haven't worn them biking much. I would recommend them to anyone that would rather be barefoot but is afraid of sharp objects where they run.

Also, they are machine washable. Just throw them in the washing machine then hang them up to dry.

I'm gonna go look at some when I get a chance this week or next. Did you get them online or in a store? If a store, was it about the same price as online?

I got them online. The only store I could find that carried them was out of my size and not getting any in soon.

Not sure what they are in your area but I paid $75 Canadian. (About $67 USD)
