well my friend, Taryn, is wanting to divorce her husband. He's kinda an ass and cheated on her with her 17 year old cousin in the next room. oh and she was pregnant with his babies at the time too. only reason she found out is that she got an std.

anywho, they have 3 children together. He works while she stays at home and takes care of the kids. She is worried about her children because she doesn't want them to be taken away. He obviously has a job so he could support the kids. But I would assume that they usually side with the mother in these types of situations and give her time to get a job and stuff right? I know she needs to talk to a divorce lawyer and she will but I was just curious if any of you know what they do in these types of situations. I know a few of us (like myself) have gotten divorces lately but I don't think any of us had kids so we didn't have to worry about it.

I was told when my parents got a divorce that the courts always favor the mothers regarding children. My mom gave up all custodial rights, so my dad got custody of us kids.

I don't know any further than that. I do know a few lawyers, though. Might give one of 'em a ring if I get a free minute.

He cheated on her and gave her an STD, I'd expect him to pay some serious vaginamony

She doesnt work? The judge would more than likely award her alimony and child support which should be a good start in being on her own. As far as the kids go...as long as they cant prove her unfit; they will NOT take the kids away from her. Hope all goes well with this matter.

ya she hasn't worked since she had kids. They have 3 kids, all under 2 years old. he made enough money to support them so she didn't have to work and so the kids didn't have to be in daycare. She isn't an unfit parent at all so I don't see any problems either. Luckily her parents and his parents live close so between everybody, hopefully they can keep the kids out of daycare while she works.

In Oregon or Washington, he's screwed blue. The general policy in our two states is : "The woman gets the kids, the guy pays". There are very few cases
where the guy can get the kids if the woman wants them. She needs to get a good lawyer. A good lawyer will get her everything she needs to survive, raise the kids and make the guy's life a living hell for 20 more years, then have him pay the lawyer bill, court costs and every other expense involved in the proceedings. She needs to be the one seeking this advice. Just tell her to find a reputable divorce lawyer and let the payback begin.

Thats one of the many reasons why its now better to be a women than a man in todays world. If it was reversed and the chic cheated on the guy, it'd be like tough break. Not that i feel sorry for the bastard if he gets the next 20 years of his life ruined.

Yea, she should be ok with the right lawyer on her side. Probably a good time for her close friends and relatives to write character letters on her behalf...they never hurt and since there is the matter of child custody..should work well for her. Yea man, childcare cost suck ass...I have 3 kids and two of them are in full time daycare..I know that pain in my pocketbook every month. Good luck to her..and youre a good friend for being there for her.
