So I finally got some decent (for me, anyway) speakers, which I have decided to run everything through, not just the PC. HDMI from the PC to the TV, then from the headphone out of the TV into the speakers. Working great, it all sounds lovely. Except....

Whenever I turn the PC on it won't recognise that I want audio through HDMI, and I have to unplug/plug back in to make it work. Once I've done that, it works fine. The PC just seems to forget everytime I turn off. Any ideas to stop this happening?

Also, as a sidenote, when I try to configure the speakers they only come up as stereo, not 2.1. Is that normal? Is it because I have the audio going to the TV (which is obviously only stereo)?

EDIT: Just discovered that the same thing happens when I change channel! So it stops outputting audio after a restart, and now also if I decide to change the channel on the TV for whatever reason.

EDIT #2: OK since finding out that the audio cuts off after switching channels, I had a new term to Google and I've found a solution! Had to disable automatic driver installation, then uninstall the audio drivers, then manually install, then turn automatic installation back on, now all is dandy! I've even got an extra option in my taskbar audio icon for microphone for my troubles :)

Far out. But yeah, HDMI is such a pain in the ass.
