So I'm looking for a neighborhood cruiser. I've already got two 26" mountain bikes for serious riding, this would be something to toot around with my 8 year old. Anybody ride one of these Mobo Triton Pros? Looks like fun, but only one gear?

If you have neighbors in big trucks that don't pay attention, then I wouldn't feel safe in something that low to the ground.

I have had many close calls in slow moving traffic near my house riding my motorcycle. And it is insanely loud (drag pipes, no baffles, on a Harley Shovelhead motor) and flashy. I would hate to be on anything shorter or less flashy.

Although, you would draw attention to yourself riding something like that. It is a pretty odd sight!

I wouldn't be riding this thing on roads with any traffic. Just my yuppie subdivision, and a paved bike trail.

So Smersh, have you actually ridden one of these things? My main concern is that the single speed will make it extremely pokey. I don't intend to race in it, but 6-10 mph would be reasonable.

Well there's always one of these, but I doubt it would help much in the toolbag department...

Those things look fun, but they weigh in at around 40 lb! Hit any sort of hill, and you'll be in for a world of hurt. Utility trikes like that need more fender coverage than the one in that picture, and they need lots of gears to help with the heavy hauling.

If one is going to go recumbent, go ALL OUT!

One needs a practical and utilitarian three-wheeler like this: ;)

On a related note: I just bought a new trekking bar, mirror and tape, outside the "super saver free shipping" zone, and got the shock of my life for my original order, when the shipping turned out to be a little over HALF the total price of the order! $67 total for a $32 dollar order! I said goodbye to the cyclecomputer and the gel pads to go under the bar tape, then I switched to the cheapest of cheap cork tape... Sigh. But at least now, I'll be able to ride longer without my palms starting to smart. ... typing is somewhat distracted with one arm stung by a hornet. I hate finding their nests the hard way....

This one is a 3 speed, but it's also 900 bucks. I could get the Triton shipped for $360 or so...
