Conclusion
If all that counts to you is
performance, then this isn't your card. If you take
several other things into consideration; price, image
quality, 2D, etc. then this is an excellent card.
Sure it can't even begin to compete with a TNT or
Voodoo2, but for less than half the price, it is doing
pretty damn good. I didn't mention the 2D much, but
I can tell you, it is good.
One nice thing that is different
from Riva 128 and TNT boards is those slowdowns some
Direct X 2D games show. For example, Subspace. On
a Riva 128 Subspace ran at about 15 FPS 1024x768.
It was pretty much unplayable. On the TNT it runs
at about 30 fps 1024x768, but takes major dips when
there is a lot of action. On the I740, the card never
dropped below 70 fps. It was usually at 100 fps. I
consider this in as quality. I recommend this
card to anyone with a P2 300 or faster that is not
willing to spend much, or anyone looking for a good
2D card.
