Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel

Test results

The racing wheel was tested on the following games:

Motoracer
Redline Racer

Nascar II
Carmageddon
Andretti Racing
Test Drive 4
Road Rash
Grand Theft Auto
Sega Daytona USA Deluxe (force feedback)
Sega Rally Championship (force feedback)
Sega Touring Car Championship (force feedback)
CART Precision Racing (force feedback)
Need For Speed III (force feedback)
Monster Truck Madness II (force feedback)
Viper Racing demo (force feedback)

I can truly say this is the best force feedback wheel I have tested to date. The two included Microsoft games were very realistic, and the wheel kicked serious ass on them. The one game that really made up my mind was Need For Speed III. You rev up your engine, you feel it; you burn out, you feel it; you drive over wood, you feel it... wow! No more of that "wheel turns left really hard, wheel turns right really hard" stuff, this is pure gold!

The only flaw I found was the pedals. It makes sense that Microsoft would pair up a really great wheel with cheesy pedals due to manufacturing costs, but this is overboard. The pedals are half of the product, and this just doesn't cut it. First of all, they're way to too close together. I like being able to use both feet for two pedals (for racing games) because the action is so fast, but this makes it nearly impossible. They also have very little resistance, so it's hard to only depress them slightly (you know... in case the cops drive by). At least they didn't slip around too much on my carpet.
