The TV-out nearly knocked me
down with shock. Even the text was clear, easy to
read, and sharp. Playing games was simply put, amazing.
I have seen good TV-out before, but this is G-R-E-A-T.
Too bad I can't take a screenshot ;)
Performance of Spectra
2500 vs. STB Velocity 4400 AGP
Many people are still pulling
their hair out trying to decide which TNT to buy (or
if they should buy one at all). How does the Spectra
2500 compare to other TNT cards? Read on...

You should keep in mind that
the STB drivers are much newer than the Canopus drivers,
yet the results were this close. This indicates that
the Spectra 2500 will most likely be the best performing
TNT when the drivers have been optimized.
Overclocking
- Spectra 2500 vs. STB Velocity 4400 AGP
With the plain heatsink
the Velocity 4400 simply cannot compete with
the Spectra's onboard fan for overclocking.
At their default speed, both boards run at
90 MHz core / 110 MHz memory clock. When you
bump up the speed of the already hot
Velocity 4400 to 95 MHz core / 115 MHz memory
the card already becomes unstable. The Spectra,
however, runs fine at even 100 MHz core /
115 MHz memory -for me- without any problems
and little heat increase. If you add some
monster cooling as suggested in my TNT
cooling article, the STB can run even
faster than the Canopus, but at a price. Keep
in mind that the STB uses higher quality ram
so the memory clock will probably not exceed
120 MHz on the Spectra boards.
