Test system

Pentium II 450
ABit BH6 mainboard
64 MB PC100 SDRAM
ASUS V3400TNT-TV
Canopus Pure3D 2
Creative Labs AWE64 sound card
V-sync disabled
Windows 98

TV-Input/Output

The TV-Input kicks ass. The visual quality was outstanding. There are several resolutions you can select up to ~800x600 full screen. After hooking up my video camera, I was very impressed again. Very little quality was lost, and there was little or no delay.

I only had the equipment to test the composite TV-Output (RCA, not S-Video), and therefore can say that the output looked average. Text was still blurry and the screen was not very sharp. Results would vary with S-Video though, and judging from the TV-Input, the TV-Output is probably also very good.

If you are looking for the perfect reasonably cheap card for video editing, look no further than the ASUS V3400TNT-TV.

Performance

So far everything looks good. How does the 3D performance rack up?

  640x480 800x600 1024x768
Forsaken 145 100 62.5
Quake II Demo1 64.2 56.9 37.5
GLQuake 99.4 67.4 42.8

Although great compared to some systems, the performance is pretty low compared to other TNT cards. As new drivers are released, performance should increase. Luckily there is an onboard fan so you can get a little more out of the card =)

Complaints

I can honestly say that I had more system crashes than I ever did with my STB V4400. Explorer crashed much more than before. I also noticed some color loss when alt-tabbing out of games like Starcraft. Some icons were all messed up. Occasionally when I closed a game, the same color problems occurred.
