I'm just going through all of my CD's, trying to bring some order to our computer room, and I'm in an absolute flood of old computer games (most illegit), from Warcraft to Stratosphere, to Empire Earth. Half of me is just like, eh chuck most of 'em (Am I really gonna play THPS3 again?) and the other half can't bear to do it... all the memories... *sniffle* So what do you guys do with your old disks (or cartridges etc.)? Keep, or liquidate when they've done their time?
I've tossed a bunch of old games. I don't even remember what they were so I know I don't care about them. I keep the worthwhile ones.
I have a cakebox of old burnt games. The furthest I go back is late 90s. i have Half-Life, original Diablo, original Command & Conquer Red Alert, and a few others from that era. On a side note, I was at Game Spot today, and someone was inquiring about their console trade in policy. They asked if they accepted PS one's, gamecubes, original DS, and his last trick... the ORIGINAL gameboy. I almost died when I saw the thing. It was in amazing shape, and even had the serial number sticket intact.
all burnt games i throw away except Q3Arena all purchased games i keep the cd write the key on the cd and throw away the box except for HL2 set. im keeping the box to that. most of that shit i'll never ever play again. console games i keep
Ultimate Doom and Final Doom are both still on my computer, as is Duke3d. I've got Warcraft II lying around here somewhere, as well. I wish I had kept the floppies for Rise Of The Triad and the original Descent. I think I have the floppies for Epic Pinball around here somewhere, at least for Android and Cybergirl... So was I 386 sx 20 (slow even then lol) No co-processor FTL. That game put Thrustmaster on the map IIRC.
I threw out so many old games. Commander Keen, Madam Chang's Palace of pleasure, Astrotit(You gotta see it), one of the falcon games. They were all on 5 1/4 and I had a ton more that I can't remember right now.
I actually love all those games I used to play growing up! I bought the Monkey Island, Doom, and Quake series when they re-released them. I still have the original Grand Theft Auto games for PSX, as well as Unreal for PC. I should buy the Leisure Suit Larry compilation, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, and Wolfenstein 3D. I still need Episode I Racer and Rebel Assault II. Either GameTap or Steam should release some of those titles, darn it!
stack them on my desk, then once the pile gets too big i migrate some to my closet. so far the stack isnt too bad, but really i've only been buying my own games for a few years now
RoTT was the best FPS in the early nineties. Doom was shit next to it, IMO. I still have my first console (Nintendo circa 1989). It still works twenty years later. My son enjoys the SNES surprisingly. I have to say that older games were a lot harder than the newer ones.
I tried getting the shareware RoTT port working on my computer, but it died every time with an obscure error message, so I gave up on ever seeing RotT goodness again. Duke3d (hi-def duke3d port), Doom (Risen3d port), and Strife (abandonware, using a legacy port) fill the void though.
I love Steam! I got the Wolf Pack, which includes all Wolfenstein titles. Reliving the good ol' days....
Good freakin' times man. Wolf3d is still fun over a decade after it came out. 2D graphics age much, much better than 3d ones.
I am baffled as to how anyone can hate Tetris.... I keep all my old games, even the shit ones, even the ones I can't play anymore. I like to hoard things..
Found some old floppies with Apple ][ games on them from circa 1982.
