Well as many of you know, I have been working out and eating healthy. I hit the 300 pound mark last February and decided that was the last straw. I made a life change to eat healthy and exercise. I stand here today 85 pounds lighter. I went from a 48 to a 34 waist. I went from 3x shirts to just a regular large. It's a hell of a difference. The thing that pisses me off is that I have so much loose skin that I look fat still. It's mostly around my belly and love handle area. I have some on my chest and arms but not quite as much. I know that it hasn't even been a year yet since I started but it just really sucks to work so damn hard but still look bad. I know that I'd have abs if it wasn't for the loose skin. I can feel the abs. I can flex them. I want the abs damnit! What sucks the most is that there really isn't an easy way to fix this from what I've read. I've read that it may or may not tighten up with strength training...which I've been doing anyways. I've read about different lotions like cocoa butter helping a small bit. But pretty much everywhere I read, they say you just have to get surgery. Well that just blows, especially when it's considered a cosmetic surgery so it's not covered under insurance. The human body is just so stupid sometimes.

Did you see that episode of The Simpsons where Homer gets liposuction? Just get a big pack of clothes pegs and don't let people see your back :p

Srsly though, well done on losing so much weight. Kudos to you!

I'm in the same boat as you actually since I lost about 103lbs. I look fine with a shirt on, but it's pretty gross when it comes off.

Maybe I'll get surgery down in Brasil. I think skin folds are pretty cheap down there :O

mine is even noticeable with my shirt on. I mean, I'm obviously smaller than I was when I was 300 pounds but I look fat still. And with my shirt off...yuck.

hey, maybe we can go down together and get a 2 for 1 deal :p

when i had my leg in a cast for 2 weeks i sorta crashed and lost 30 pounds in those 2 weeks, since then i have had stretch marks on my thighs and abs, IMO totally unappealing.

Have you tried meeting with doctor just for consult. May be they can point you in some direction as to where you can get financial help for that kind of things. I am sure there are alot of group and may be Govt stuff that can help you in that area. I am not sure just throwing some idea around.

oh ya, I'm not even mentioning the stretch marks. I could live with just stretch marks. I've had stretch marks ever since I got fat. I was 160 in high school. I went from 160 to 300 in a pretty short time period. I have stretch marks all over my arms, shoulders, chest, stomach, hips, legs. But it's the loose skin that drives me crazy the most.

I haven't met with a doctor yet about it. I guess it's worth a try at least.

Just wait until your face starts doing that;)
I've lost 85 lbs. in two years without too much of an effect. I didn't take it all off at once
    though.

well by a short time period, I mean like 10 years years. I was 160 my freshman year in high school. I was a basketball guy but quit after my freshman year because the coach only played suck ups. amazing what playing basketball all the time does. I was in shape and could eat anything I wanted. Once I quit, I didn't do anything active and became even more of a computer geek. But I still ate like crap. so obviously i got fat.

My advice would be to keep your eye on the health goals and not lose heart. My Mom had gastric bypass surgery and went through this too. She's pretty old and didn't bother, but you could save up and get some of that removed. The main thing is you're healthy and will be able to live a normal length life. The rest is just gravy.

ya, it doesn't keep me from working out or eating right, that's for sure. I've worked too hard to quit now. It just sucks as I should have a smoking body but I don't. If I get this job that I have an interview for, I'll make some decent extra cash and I think i'll save up for it. I wonder how much it would cost.

wellll...................there's this doctor (Dr. Moreau), he has his own island. He'll probably only charge 20 bux and four pizzas.

My searches yielded "A lot" to ">$13,000", but no specifics. If I had to guess a "belt lipectomy" would probably run around $7,500 on average. Even at the high end $13,000 sounds like a lot of money, but you could work a second job for 1 year and make that. Just depends on how bad you want it.

eek yuck, ya that is quite a bit. Wonder why it costs co much. Doesn't seem like there is much to it. I've got other things to take care of before I drop $13k on something like this. I want it but I also want to pay off my debts and upgrade my 2002 computer and tv, among other things. I'll just deal with it for now.

I've noticed that when I lost the weight the skin stays too...it became really disheartening....you work to get skinnier and the extra stuff stays....I think it even looks worse than just being fat.....not healthier I know...but it looks better....IMO
