In answer to your last question: I have no clue! :) Random piece of metal, no longer serving whatever purpose it used to serve, and just tagging along because somewhere, at some time, some person put the speaker/panel on the floor where this was residing, and it's been there ever since!

Hmm well that kind of ruined everything for me Seven...maybe you guys are just heartless, careless meanies. But then again you didn't help at all so maybe that's just your opinion.

Also, I'm not sure if that didn't anything at all. I went and had a shower while it was checking for disk space cuz it was taking a long time and when I came back, the computer had restart but it was back on that same screen that says

    (blah blah blah)....Not Found
    (blah blah blah)....Not Found
    BOOT Failure
    Insert BOOT Diskette in A

So I restarted it again and it continued doing the same thing so again turned off the power bar and restarted computer that way...it worked after the second try.

:( I'm sure it was Seven...you just like me cuz I posted my boobies. If I hadn't you'd probably treat me like Crowebaby or something equally as rude. I sincerely think you and most other guys on here are nice and funny people. But I didn't even clue in to that being a joke.

Relax, most of the guys how helped you, would have helped you regardless, you can see form there previous posts. When it come to giving idea how to solve or at very least understand particulars about computer problem they help.

Well since there not much left to do, all you can do now is get your hands on another IDE internal HD. Reinstall you Xp on it, put your old drive back in and transfer your important data. And discard the old HD.

Its very simple to do and you can find image base guide on that all over the net.

Easy is a relative term. :) Just be sure to schedule a huge honking chunk of time for this effort, which will involve installing Windows, installing device drivers for all your stuff like graphics cards and motherboard chipsets, and installing the programs you use most often and letting automatic updates do it's thing to bring your installation up to date. I can guarantee that ONE of these steps will become unexpectedly difficult! I think it's an addendum to Murphey's Law.

My preferred method for this madness is to get all my ducks in a row beforehand, putting drivers, Service Pack 3 (since the XP disk I have is Service Pack 1a vintage), and installers for my most wanted programs on CD-R, and making doubly sure that I've backed up every bit of data I need. Then I just take everything one step at a time.

Changing the Hard Drive isn't really too hard, especially since I just leave the old drive in place, and just put the new drive in a bay above or below it. The most you will need for this is a phillips-head screwdriver to secure the drive in the bay with the (hopefully included) screws. Then it's just a matter of yanking out the power connecter and IDE cable from the old drive, which takes more force than you will really feel comfortable exerting on delicate electronics, and putting them into the new one. The new hard drive should come with helpful explanations on how to install it, and how to set the jumper for master/slave.

Here's a nice boring dull video guide

Now it's just a matter of grinding through the install process... assuming that you have the install disk, that is... Oh dear, I forgot to ask if you were given that along with the computer...

    eheh... oops...

Sigh, not even knowing what awaits there now can convince me to ever visit the NSFW section ever again! :)

Step 1: Quit turning the computer on and off. You're only making it fail sooner.
Step 2: Purchase new hard drive
Step 3: Bring equipment to Seattle for 950 to fix

I have spare parts too. Case, board, etc.

This could be a really interesting thread.

Instead of trash talking a noob like there's no tomorrow, T3D does something good and de-noobify somebody.

    That would be awesome

She does need a HD and a windows/Liux install though. I'll send her the OS, but someone feels the need to send her a HDD?

I'm a nerd at heart. I've spent hours at a time chillin out, finding new things on the internet and stuff but what I really wanted to learn about was computers. The only problem was that I had no idea where to start.
Lord Kain, I don't have a very good phone plan. I don't even own a cell phone. I have family in Winnipeg so I'm sure my dads got some kind of long distance plan....haha when Lurker told me to check the fins...I was like durrrrrrrrr :retard: what?
The only thing I know about computers is how to uninstall programs what files are okay to download and a few other things and that's pretty much all internet stuff. It'd be a fuckin sweet deal if you guys could show me how to build my own computer I've never done it before and I've always been interested in it. The only problem is money issues. I'm stuck in a rut. Plus I should be saving so I can get a hotel in Mexico for my sisters wedding in April and I can't even do that....stupid low minimum wage....
So I tried to start my computer up today, it told me to insert Boot Disk so I found a couple disks, inserted them and both didn't work. I waited for my dad to wake up and all he did was make sure everything was in there tightly...like I had done as well. Only when he did it, it actually started up. Fuck this annoying computer. I think it's cuz I'm a girl...it senses the n00bidity...

So an update thing just popped up, would it be better if I chose express install or custom install?

Express install works fine on just about anything. Custom installs give you the option to leave certain stuff in, or out.

Well lady, if you decide to start the computer project, I'm willing to be part of it. I can make a few phone calls and find parts.

But if we do something, you gotta take pics and we'll make a leet thread about it!!!
