Anyone play on Illidan server? Looking for a guild, my son joined the Cake or Death guild because it's laid back. Looking for other suggestions.

    Thanks!

Hah, you're on Illidrama! One of the best and worst servers to be on, from what I hear. A lot of the "original" players are there, and it's the same server the WoW funeral was done on.

Look at Guild Progression on your realm forum, see who's progressing, and who's on top. Throw some applications to those guilds, if raiding is your thing (if you're 70, that is).

If you need any advice, let me know. I've done everything up to and including a few bosses in Hyjal before I sold my account, and I know a lot of current and passed content.

Oh I didn't know you just started.

Well, supposedly there are some good things in store for WoW. The new expansion is going to revamp and reintroduce some of the older raid dungeons from the original WoW (Naxxramas, etc). Nothing can compare to the old raid dungeons, they were incredible.

I'd suggest leveling to 70 and just hanging out. Do some PvP, get some PvP gear, work on your flying mount and your professions. At this stage in the game, it's not worth it to raid, since the expansion will void out any gear you get when you level to 80, and it's supposedly coming out soon. The only exception would be a guild that's currently in Hyjal/Black Temple and wouldn't mind running you through Karazhan and getting all those epics.

It's really a whole world of it's own and everyone finds a niche in the game and sticks to it. I personally LOVED raiding and that's all I played the game for, but there are a lot of people that are exclusively PvP, or are exclusively auction house whores, lol.

    Well, atleast you're Horde. :)

At lvl19, go to Crossroads and try and get some groups for Wailing Caverns. It'll get you used to 5-man dungeons, and there are a few decent tanking pieces in that instance. Be sure to look up Wailing Caverns quests on Google (or WoWhead.com/Thottbot), there may be some decent Rare (Blue) quest rewards. It's been so long since I've been in WC, let alone on a warrior. I remember the rare Kresh shield off the turtle "boss", that's about it.

But, it'll get you used to the 5-man cooperative setting. Just let your group know that it's your first time in an instance, so you dodge any of the flames if you screw up.Low level instances are a little boring at times, but once you hit 35-40 and start doing Scarlet Monestary and up, things really start to open up.

This is the chat breakdown for WoW:

/1 - General chat (city, town, zone, instance. In the Barrens it's typically Chuck Norris jokes.)
    /2 - City Trade
/3 - Local Defense (Zone PvP, call where Alliance are)
/4 - Looking for Group (LFG) Channel

/say - Say something openly, it has about a 15yd radius
/yell - Yell something, comes in the chat window Red, big radius
/p - Party chat, use this when you're in a group.
    /g - Guild chat
    /raid (or /ra) - Use when in a raid.
/w Name - Whisper a player. Replace 'Name' with player name.
    /ignore - Ignore a nigga.

That's the basic rundown. There are some more advanced commands like Raid Warning and Guild Admin controls that you'll probably get the hang of when the time comes.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm sadly a wealth of information on this game.

    Molten Core was soooo fun.

Ragnaros was what got me hooked on raiding. Wasn't terribly hard, and his phases were a little gimped, but he (and Sapphiron in Naxx) were the biggest bosses in terms of size. It was just cool to fight him.

BWL did get a little tedious. And I was in a guild that lost all competence when it came to Nefarian.

But to answer your question, I think they're only revamping and tuning Naxxramas to a Lvl80 raid dungeon. Now THAT place is awesome. I've yet to talk to someone that didn't absolutely love Naxxramas.

Is everyone in a guild? If not you will be. Had an Orc trying to recruit me for two weeks but didn't join cause didn't know anything about them and he wouldn't tell me much, don't think they have many members though. Anyway finally joined one that's very laid back will see how this works out.

The good thing about playing this game, it's help my boyz and I get closer and that makes it well worth it. When my son was ready to buy his epic mount he asked which color should he choose it was one of those father son moments I'll never forget.

    Haha nice.

A good rule of thumb with guilds is to find one with 100+ members that focuses completely on leveling. A lot of these guilds get sidetracked and try and do some pre-made PvP, I usually skip right by guilds like that.

Both times I leveled (one to 60 in Vanilla WoW, one 70 in BC) I was in guilds that did nothing but run instances, then come out, reset the instance and run again. That and tonssss of group questing.

    I did 1-60 in ~3 weeks, and again 1-70 in ~3 weeks.

No, I did. A nice steamy pile. Just kidding :p

You guys can shit in the WoW threads, I don't play anymore. I just give advice to people that play. I spent countless hours looking up the information I know. Better to share it, imo.

I played for two years. I'm on the Burning Blade server. Was in a guild my real life buddies started up called, "The Super Smash Brothers". We got a good following. We're laid back, we have a bunch of great players, and overall we have fun while taking care of business.

I stopped playing about 5 months ago. My roommate plays all the time and since MS Warriors have gone way up in the food chain, I think I might hop back on my 70 Tauren Warrior.

Just wait til you hit 70 and find a raiding or pre-made PvP guild.. You won't be able to stop.

    I'm dead serious.

I liked my warrior too. A lot actually. I learned how to play Vanilla WoW on my warrior. Rolled through BWL and some early Naxx content as a 2h 'old school' MS build.

One thing I didn't like though, which still remains true in the expansion, is how gear dependent they are. I say this a lot, but it's true: A lot of guild leaders are tanks for a reason :p. It sucks for a lot of new people, because almost all are drawn immediately to the Warrior class. Then when they hit 70 they realize how hard it is for them to get gear.

1h Fury, or Imp MS with a sick 2h are sooo fun.. More fun than rogues in some aspects. When it comes down to it though, Magic > Melee in WoW, atleast to me. If I were to play again (which I'm not), I'd roll an affliction Warlock in a heartbeat.

EDIT: A funny guide to leveling on a PvP server:

Haha, that is pretty true of SV. The only time I ever quested there was in groups so we could protect ourselves. Only time it didn't work was when the level 60's got bored and just camped quest givers.
