I was glued to my monitor and in Nihilum's IRC last week when they were attempting Illidan Stormrage. It was actually a pretty fun day or two as two top World guilds were throwing in attempts on him after clearing the Black Temple in just a week (it's been tuned in the last patch to make the encounters a bit harder).

A little about Nihilum: They're a group of players from England that get sponsored and paid to get "World firsts" and write up strategy guides on new encounters. They are the #1 guild in the World (Earth, or Warcraft, take your pick), and have been pumping out World first kills since C'Thun in AQ40, and Kel'Thuzad in Naxxramas, just to name a few of the important ones. These dudes stayed up probably 20-30 hours just to claim Illidan on their long list of "World first kills".

The encounter itself looks extremely hard, enduring, and mana intensive. There are a ton of phases from what I can pick up, including a few air phases with fire elemental spawns, Inner demon spawns ala Leotheras the Blind (SSC), and a few others.

With them getting Archimonde down in Mt. Hyjal, and now Illidan, they've technically "beaten the game".

Watching that almost makes me want to start playing WoW again. Unfortunately, I just don't have any time for that crap.

It definitely looks like one of the most fun encounters I've ever seen. They applied lots of phases and abilities to Illidan from past bosses in Burning Crusade.

Much like Vashj and Kael'thas, everyone seems to have an actual role in the fight, unlike some where you just stand there and Tank and Spank.

I really want to try this guy out.
