from what I've read, it's plenty stable enough to be the main OS now. I still don't think there is a point for me to go to Vista or Windows 7 unless I have higher specs.

Wouldn't it be cool if MS released their OSes for beta testing like this?

I hated Vista on my laptop because they re arranged the locations of all the advanced settings and I didn't want to take the time to relearn it. XP+Ubuntu on the Laptop. Windows 7 will be around the time I build my next computer, it's probably going to be my OS.

Well I'm a few hours in and I like it, but hate it at the same time. Yes I'm using it as a main OS, only because it was time to reinstall my OS anyway, so I'm giving it a shot.

Pros: It's fast, very responsive, haven't had a single crash yet. Seems to be pretty solid so far.

Cons: It has a weird habit of freezing doing the most mundane tasks (opening/closing Defrag). EVE-online also freezes randomly, but doesn't crash, just leaves you stuck for 10-30 seconds until it makes up its mind and lets you do whatever it is you wanted to do.

Overall it's a joyful experience, but having issues with gaming isn't something that I'll tolerate. I'm going to defrag the drive (if it lets me), and give EVE another shot. If it still freezes then I'll be reinstalling XP on my system.

My XP needs a new install too, I may give it a test. How is the driver support for the 64bit version?

I haven't heard much on the 64 bit version, I'm using the 32 because it was the first one I found on thepiratebay.org

    Double post, oh well.

I've given it a shot, but it's easy to tell that it is still a beta. Still more reliable than Windows ME ever was, but I can't stick with this. Random lock-ups for no reason at all. Just sitting here reading a webpage, go to scroll down and realize it's locked up. Mouse still works, but it doesn't do anything for 30-45 seconds. Then it finally releases everything.

Back to XP I go, but as Win7 progresses further I'll definitely be looking into more betas to play with.

could be driver issues, but i dont think its a good idea to keep as a main os right now eve if it does seem stable. cause you only got 30days, lol

I have a CD key that came with the trial, and it didn't need one to start it so changing to the new key may give extended time, not sure. But I'm back on XP now, I couldn't play eve with it freezing like that. Losing a ship in eve = you have to work your ass off to buy another one so freezing isn't an option for me.
