ive already found one bug with IE8, if you press enter in the reply box sometimes it sends the reply rather than jumping down to the next line. is this a problem in vista?

also, after i rebooted my lan now works!! all i had to do was reboot.

fonts are really funky in here, some are cleartype, some arent, some are crisp, some are jaggy and fucked up, pretty ugly overall.

if this old ass test ide 7200rpm crackling, loud ass hdd wasnt such an iffy drive, i'd keep this install ... but i'll probably wipe it this weekend.

and i cant find device center, i think vista had device center (activesync for xp)but there isnt one here.
so far it feels pretty good but my hdd is constantly grinding, thus only 1gb of ram, and my system is era 2003, sooo.. yea

currently firefox doesnt have a preview pane, im sure this will either be a microsoft product only feature or it'll be added into future firefox versions.

and sticky notes will definately be a plus for me, im so used to making notepad notes on my desktop that gets cluttered, this will alleviate that.

in order to get the original vista startbar, goto taskbar properties and enable "small icons"

i dont like the huge squares that cover desktop icons when selected. very ugly.
i dont think theres an option to unhide toolbar icons on the right corner

Seems like it's turning out alright. I'm in dire need of a fresh OS install, just not sure if I want to make the leap to 7 just yet.

meh...Looks just like vista to me. Another way for microsoft to suck cash from everyone.

I got vista for free from school program, so I'm not complaining....

Eh, well i tried it on my virtual machine, couldn't get vista drivers to work with 7600 gt video card, so I gave up. I want to setup a test pc to try this shit on, virtual machine just isn't cutting it.

They've updated/tweaked some things but it's basically going to be Vista R2...which really isn't a bad thing as my copy of Vista has run rock solid for 2 years now.

edit: Looks like divx support will be built in: Digg - Windows 7 surprise: DivX built in

its gonna be fun seeing all the hidden features being found in the coming months.

adobe wouldnt let that happen, microsoft would be better off buying adobe than buying the license to include it in every os. :p

oh ya and OSX and Ubuntu have changed their looked each time...

come on man, just because it looks like Vista, doesn't mean it is. Go read about Windows 7 and you will read positive reviews about it everywhere. Yes, they have taken Vista (which isn't as bad as people say) and improved on it a good deal I'd say. Don't bash it unless you have at least done your homework.

They should offer this as a free upgrade from Vista. Yeah... like that would happen.

Most people that blabber about how "bad" Vista is are usually uninformed morons.

I personally didn't know how sick Vista was until I loaded x64 Ultimate on my new PC. It is NUTS, hopefully W7 has a more optimized feel to it, and they give it a cool name. I'd even be happy if they stuck with Windows 7.

QFT. At first vista sucked. I built a low end machine for Vista and it blew because nothing was compatible. Now that it is, it is a rock. I've run into quirks in businesses but that's usually due to old programs or odd configurations.

Actually, that's a pretty weak argument. Ubuntu is a Linux distribution that relies on a graphical interface for regular desktop usage. The look of Ubuntu is directly related to the version of Gnome or KDE that's available at the time of release. Major releases of KDE and Gnome generally DO have considerable changes in appearances and features.

And saying OSX hasn't changed it's look in a while is like saying Vista hasn't changed its look in a while. OSX is ONE version of the Apple operating system. Compare OS X to OS 8!

unfortunately, out of the gate vista had a bad rap, but since fixes, etc it must be better.
remember when XP first came out? everyone here was like WIN98SE FOREVER fuck that bloated PLAYSCHOOL TOY CRAP and now look, after many fixes, updates, etc were like XP FOREVER

its just times changing and the os acceptance cycle.

i cant vouch for vista because i skipped it, but for me to review it would be unfair because of my archaic hardware.

Oh i tell everyone that exact same story. Vista is XP again. Too bad the hype killed it because Windows 7 will be Vista R2 with a different name.

Don't think I'm a vista basher, in fact I love vista (mostly).

I initially decided to dual boot, but ever since the 1st day of installing vista, I haven't gone back to XP. Everything runs smoothly, no random crashes, and I really like the layout.

I was just saying that windows 7 appears to me, to do everything that vista does. The product cycle is a lot shorter on this one as well. Vista is barely 2 years old.

I took the plunge and I'm using the new windows 7 beta. Had a little trouble with installation, it finished the "Loading Files" part at the very start, then just hung for 5 minutes until it got to the next screen.

So far I'm liking it, I'm currently installing a few games to see how they go. Should be interesting.

Are you using it as your main operating system???? I wouldn't, I dont think it's stable enough to do that sort of thing, you should at least dual boot with xp or vista...
