This really pisses me, an average american taxpayer, way the fuck off. Think I'll send news clippings like this instaed of the additional 10,000 the irs wants for my '05taxes.
First DIGG comment was pretty much what I was going to say: In other news, inner city schools continue to fall apart...
No doubt Antigone.. I'm getting my feet wet in Richmond's school system and let me tell you... it's terrible. One school that I visited to help renovate their gym and schoolyard had 1 computer in the whole school (other than the administrators brand new VAIO) and it was one of these which are on display at the Smithsonian Museum! We used these in my middle school 10 years ago. Granted, I went to an inner city middle school and had only 10 of these computers but you'd think they would at least have more of the ancient machines than 1. They also had a huge mold problem in the ceilings but no one talks about it.
It's easy to believe it when the software back then was written to do what it's supposed to do and nothing more. No frills software. Programmers back then stuck to the KISS ideology quite well.. especially when you don't have a lot of processing power to work with.
It's just a dent in the debt we're in. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2187rank.html Keep looking until you find US.
that's cool, but i'm honestly not that surprised... how much faster can you really make a word processor? but hey. i'd like to see how easily a dualcore trumps a mac plus at some of the heavier business server or other resource intensive processes of the modern era.
Obviously, for anything that requires intensive processing power, lots of bandwidth, or 3D capabilities, that Mac won't cut it. But the article was talking about word processing and Excel tables.
Well Bush did just pledge 30 billion to fight AIDS in Africa. Money is just flowing out of our government into everyones' hands, except for anybody that actually pays freakin taxes.
