I wasn't even aware that they could vote for statehood.
They're ALWAYS voting on it. The status quo folks win because that 53 percent who want a change are SPLIT between those who want to be an independent Nation, and those who want to be a State of the US.
All the territories of the US have this option, when certain requirements of population and governance are met.
i wasnt even aware it still existed
Goofus said it. That territiory has been wrestling with statehood vs. nation since as along as I can remember.
I say they become their own nation. We don't need them as far as I can tell, and as stated above we already have Mississippi.
I disagree. Puerto Rico is too intertwined with New York to ever become independent. They want to keep their immigration status legal!
Yeah I've always thought of them as the 51 state. I've been all over that island twice, always had a blast.
Plus the women!!!
