I assure you I'm not trying to start shit. Either you're misunderstanding my posts or I'm not making myself clear. Perhaps the fact that my native language is not English has something to do with it?

Dude... WTF did I say that was even close to offensive as some of the shit said in the political threads around here? You need to chill. This is a debate not a personal attack.

If I'm out of line spank away.

At this point, there's not much more I can do to change your mind, so believe what you will.

If somebody else understands where I'm coming from and wants to try to explain my POV, please do.

See that's the thing. What you've said thus far won't change my mind. Only you, yourself can explain what you mean. From what I've heard, it's "fuck it, legalize it. There's worse stuff out there that's legal." But that doesn't fix anything. In my HUMBLE opinion, that's just adding fuel to the fire that's already been burning for quite some time.
    How does that help?

In a nutshell, yes. We don't need to keep demonizing marijuana. It's like any other vice. If you want to think that I'm uninformed, misguided, ignorant, dumb, stupid, an idiot, go ahead. People who want to legalize marijuana want to do it for different reasons. What you put in your body is your business and nobody else's. I'm not gonna judge you. Read my signature.

P.S. I also support the legalization/regulation of prostitution and the right of gay people to marry.

Driving intoxicated is wrong no matter what the substance, alcohol, pot, perscription pills. It is illegal and will remain illegal even if pot is legalized.

Legalize pot, delegalize pot, whatever...people will do it either way, and they do. I think that it's messed up that a first time bust for possession in washington state with no priors will typically earn you only 24 hours overnight, plus house arrest. Why even bust someone if your not even going to take it seriously. I don't smoke and don't care if others do, hell almost all my friends in Seattle do. I think it's just not seen as a devient act anymore. change in cluture.

Meh, Why the hell not legalize it. Maybey we could have some merit in "With liberty and justice for all" in the morning for the first 17 years of our lives.

Have you ever been so high driving down the road that at some point you go "Whoah! I'm driving a car right now!" I mean, totally and suddenly surprised that you're behind the wheel?

To me driving stoned makes it feel like a video game, like I see it like a chess board or something. I definitely feel in control though. It took me a while to feel like that though.

    I think that's part of the problem with pot's image. The ones who act dumb under the influence are first time or unfamiliar users. If I drove the first time I smoked i'd prob hurt someone. But now, it's not as big a deal. That's why it's harmful to ban it;
there are a lot of people that are simply uneducated about it.

I got my lisence while "burning out" from getting stoned all day at school. Alarm went off on my phone and I rememered then that I had the driving test. I passed first try, and I had smoked about 5 joints between a group of people as well as hits from the bongs that were being passed around. I smoke weed everyday. I'm always coherent enough to drive, and we've got really good bud around here. I've smoked weed from Washington, further up North and Winnipeg and a few other places....I can safely say that I live around some potent growers who know what they're doing. I've never been in a car accident caused by being too ripped. I've never caused harm or had harm done to me because of weed.

Also, I would much rather just have weed decriminalized and not legal. Reason being, I don't want it to get taxed to shit like darts. A pack of smokes is like $10 for 20. I wonder how much an eighth or a quarter would be? I'm too cheap to want to buy an eighth for $60-$70 when I can buy it for $20 now, and not have to worry about smoking a doobie when I'm taking a nice scenic walk around Vancouver.

I agree with the inexperienced user's causing more problems statement.
But theres no doubt, If im stoned and a cat / car / horse / small airplane gets in my path i will take a few seconds longer to hit the brakes.

Then again, Its not like you get into a car stoned and decide to race somebody, Or catch a yellow light like you might if your drunk. Its not near as bad, But like Lurker said, its still isnt an excuse.

All in all, The driving part of the matter should be the least of our worries, Alcohol will still be the #1 drug for driver deaths, wether weed is legal or not.

I see no harm in legalizing it other then ( Keyword: ) "SOME" children will be exposed to it earlier.

And as we all know, Children protected from drugs seem to go out and overdose/abuse drugs more often then children who were in a sense "allowed" to experiment around at a younger age when you can't necessarily go around the corner and get heroin/speed/etc. like you could in a college area.

Of course you can find heroin anywhere, But you get my point.

So once again, if anything in my eyes i see that as another plus. The only legal drug that alters how you feel is alcohol, And that shitty fake weed.... But who uses that... Back on topic, Alcohol is not exactly the best drug to try first IMO.

I would much rather my kids steal a joint from me and get high instead of steal a bottle of my liqour, go out and do something idiotic and get themselves hurt/killed and or thrown in jail for something you dont do when your sober/high on weed.

I guess what im saying is, If we're going to legalize some drugs, FFS lets atleast legalize the right ones.

(tried to find a spanky face but couldn't soo I'm gonna go with the madslap)just wanted to give you some discipline :) I don't think anyone is out of line here. It's a matter of opinions although I do agree with the fact that yes it is illegal to drive under the influence for any sort of "drug" be it pot or booze, so me trying to justify driving stoned was wrong. But I was giving an example of how some people aren't affected by the chronic as bad as others.

It also has alot to do with how hydrated you are.

Weed can in a sense black you out like lurker said if your dehydrated. Atleast alot sooner then you would black out from just being dehydrated.

I guess that sort of applies with alot of things though.

ive drove high once. will never do it again.
while i did make it home and apparently followed all driving rules AND drove straight, it was too awkward for my liking and comfort.

its a weird thing like msp said.. your memory is so fucked youre like.. "damn im driving, okay, okay, straighten up, roll down the window, get some fresh air"

then you start zoning off into wonderland, then you snap back into it trying to stay focused driving. it is like a video game, lol

and the whole time, im wondering if im going the right way home because my short term memory is temporarily disabled. but youre really alright and know your way.
but this is something i dont condone, just too dangerous.

That's true for people who don't smoke all the time. But as you smoke more and you tolerance becomes greater and you get used to being the asshole driver on the blunt cruises you get much better at it.

Yeah, and my uncle drove fine while drinking a beer when he was a full blown alcoholic. That doesn't mean I felt safe in the car. Did you ever think that maybe your confidence has grown, but your ability has stayed the same? I'm not saying driving drunk is the same, but you shouldn't legally be allowed to drive under the influence of either substance, it's just a bad idea.

I have 0 accidents and 0 tickets in my almost 3 years of driving. I never drive if I know I can't or if I knew I would be a danger to others on the road. I drive the speed limit, I use my turn signal, and I pay attention. Which is alot more then most people even when sober.

Also in my 3 years of driving I've driven almost 36,000 miles(commuting to school) just to put my record in perspective.
