Greed has ruined many societies, America being the latest one.
    the stupidity of
    humankind is epic.
One definition of "insanity" is: doing the same things over and over......expecting different results.
WTF are we going to do without our planet?

I just saw that building yesterday.

Architecturally, it is truly a work of art.

he wasn't ahead of his time. It's just that the same mistakes have been happening forever and nobody learns the lessons by the fall of socoeties such as ours and the Romans alike.

We need to all work hard and do our best to make America great again. It starts with little things -paint your house, wash your car, get certified with a new skill, do some meaningful community service, get in shape, etc. Better yourself every day. So pull that donut out of your pie whole right now and go make America better! I just did my part - cleaned the patio and grill for a cookout this weekend. :)

i worked out to day, yay, i helped america... i don't think so... how is doing things for your self helping america... you need to do things for others to help this country.

i am pretty sure the banks that are getting bailed out were trying to help themselves not others. i think the car industry was trying to help themselves (along with the oil industry) out by making cars that were less fuel efficient. there is such a gap between the upper class who make close to a million a year and some one like me who who made almost 7 thousand last year. ya, i was in school. ya i wasn't working full time but still... you ever try to make ends meet with only 7,000 a year with a child.

i love how it seems the only way to make lots of money is by screwing some one else. we need to help others not ourselves

Meh, I find it better just to confine the people who don't to restricted areas.

Basically a lot of the major benchmarks of a great society are now held elsewhere. Playboy interviewed Fareed Zakaria a few moths ago and he talked about it - tallest building, biggest shopping mall, largest casino, etc. The guy is a genius, an important guy. I recommend reading up on him. I'm going to read his book.

I think I've said it before, but China and India are the new burgeoning superpowers, with the manufacturing colossus we abandoned. You can't be a superpower if you don't make your own stuff! :)

The financial powers are independant of nationalities. When profits suffers behind one border, they simply move operations to behind a different border where profits are maximized. labor is dirt cheap in India and China, so there the stuff is made. There is no patriotism or national pride when profit is involved. The slave society of the times of Socrates is still intact, it's just disguised and called something else.

On a slightly more seriouser note, this is why big Government will never die. Small Government can only be effective if the businesses are equally small. Otherwise, the big Businesses will simply run rings around a feeble Government that can't keep up.

Of course in these days of international business conglomerates, even a big National Government can't keep up, especially since the businesses are more tightly focused on a narrow area of concerns.
