I agree on all points. It is a great system but needs that unlocked potential. Let's not forget UNCHARTED 2!!!

Well it's free on-line now, but for how long? I got feeling that's gonna change. PS3 On-line gaming is not as bad as Wii but still pretty bad.

Slot loading not a big deal there.

Better cooling. Your right there. Hell the who system is built tuffer.

un-tapped potential. Maybe But i have feeling we want see that this year.
then new console will be in the works by 2010/2011

They said that for the first Xbox too* (and I agreed). How many years until you brand a system "failed to live up to its potential"?

e: And as far as free online for the PS3: the two consoles don't even compare. Cross game invites and cross game parties alone make XBL worth the ~$5.00/month it is. It also filters some of the garbage out, since it's not free. Comparing the consoles online services is like comparing their HD movie playback ability. There just isn't a real comparison.

    * - Different specifics, obviously, but still new stuff like having a hard drive in a console, included ethernet, etc. If I remember correctly, the Xbox was very, very niche until the the mediocrity that is Halo 2 arrived.

$5 is $5 bottom line. Don't forget that MS spent alot of money in HD DVD (which is useless)/ XBOX 360 . So every 360 purchase has an automatic donation to the gravestone of HD-DVD..err Bill. :p

Only if you bought the add-on player. The drive in the 360 is just standard DVD.
Oh, and the PS3 is WAY louder than the 360. Just wait till you get some dust build up and the fan needs to run at full speed to cool it down. You'll think someone turned on a fucking vacuum cleaner in the other room.

Developers have made it very clear that they're not really willing to put much effort into programming for the PS3. Every cross platform title looks sharper on the "inferior" 360 architecture. X86 is a much simpler way to program, especially for PC ports, which is probably a big reason why the 360 gets so many titles.

I must be lucky because my 60GB is silent, even after an hour of GTA4. The 360 is a loud son of a bitch I can hear during Rock Band sessions.

More shit getting flung around that is simply not true. My PS3 is near silent, most other PS3's I have seen/heard have been the same.

Mine is too almost all the time, but when the fans kick on I just turn it off it's so loud.
My DVD drive on my 360 failed about 6 months ago. The replacement drive is considerably quieter as well.

When I got a newer 360 for Christmas, it was considerably quieter. Something must have changes at some point. All the PS3s I've seen have been pretty quiet. I've never noticed excessive fan noise.

Let's not forget you can actually run Linux on the PS3! :D

Hopefully Sony will re-release a version w/ HWBC once they stop losing money. :p

One drawback of the 40GB PS3 is that it has been stripped of backwards compatibility, a self proclaimed "Key feature" of the PS3, in order to cut costs.

As far as I know, they've cut it out of all the models that are currently being sold. :retard:

I know. That's because it was just too expensive for them to keep producing it. They sell them at a loss.
