geeze.....I never thought of that. The amount of human energy, that has been employed throughout the course of human history, in order to get people to do something they normally wouldn't want to do, is stagering. Shepards and sheep I'm here to tell you.

Makes perfect sense, I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. The loopholes and grey areas (like the estate trust MSP is talking about,) are fucking up tax revenue more than anything. People keep whining about the tax rate, its not going to make a huge difference for the ultra-wealthy, they are going to find ways to get around it. It is going to hurt the moderately wealthy or whatever term you want to apply to it. People like Romney, Gates, hell even Obama, can just weasel their way out of paying the full rate, no matter what it is. Look at these numbers (source: http://economist.com/news/united-st...rope-towards-common-ground-taxes-opening-bids)

reinstate bush tax cuts: $442b/yr, 0.2% of gdp
cap itemised deductions to $25k: $749b/yr, 0.4% of gdp
cap itemised deductions to 2% of income: $2,000b/yr, an entire percentage point of gdp (removing deductions only gets another 200b)

not to mention how much simpler it will make shit, reduce how much is dealt with by the IRS, auditors, legal issues, etc.

And I get you hate fox, but you realize you have become the liberal version? Last time I got on here, I seem to recall a thread you made jacking off about some Romney quote that you didn't even realize was on a hoax website.

The difference is that I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong;) that and the fact that most of the time I use facts to back up my statements make me, in no way, similar to a fox talking head.

They do have the same elements though, mostly because politics is just the perjorative word for the way human beings behave socially in groups. This behavior isn't well suited for the huge groups we've managed to form, and so we get high levels of dysfunction, as the things we do don't get the results we want. It is this dysfunction that we label as "politics."

This is the ultimate argument for those who want most government to be as local to the governed as possible. Smaller groups are more manageable socially, when humans are involved. It is also the greatest argument against it, when you consider some of the groups who would be in control of some localities.

Thus, politics will show up in Religion and Sports, or the office meeting, or a dispute with contractors/subcontractors, or any place where you have a group of human beings. Or chimpazees.
