I agree that all good ideas end up falling prey to the priority on getting elected/re-elected. It's true for both sides of the isle.
    Good articles.

I'm curious but I probably won't read all that.

I think most of those are points well-taken.

What's left? Gay Divorce! :) This is actually a real problem, since the combo of patchwork of differing State laws on Gay Marriage status, combined with a lack of procedure for dealing with same-sex couples, can make untying the LGBT knot an epic unraveling ordeal.

On a seriouser note, it's hard to pin down "Progressive" since many of those issues straddle both the libertarian/authoritarian divide, and the fiscal conservative/liberal divide.

Equal Protection Clause of the 14th means it'll just take a few cases in each district to make gay marriage legal throughout the land. Even Orson Homophobe Card admits it's a done deal.

And progressives are almost all libertarian socially save for the oddly latent idea that government should be laissez faire in application of civil rights issues and statues.
    Sparky says thanks for this.

One man's "progressive" is another man's "regressive" or "oppressive". Same goes with "conservative".
Goals are bound to get compromised when there are too many goals.

A conservative or liberal mindset is all dependent on just what your basis of understanding is. You can call Obama a conservative compared to Hitler. Much the same, you can consider Raegan a liberal as compared to a member of the Amish community. It all depends on what your opinion of "moderate" is.

That's just it, it's all perspective. Politics.....can have two sides agree and make them bitter enemies at the same time.
Times may have changed, but people basically haven't.

Agreed. The upper middle class is going to disappear as a result.
Feudalism by any other name, is still Feudalism. That is not progressive, it's regressive.
