I know that we have a ton of veteran members who have been around for years, and was just curious how everyone found the site. What brought everyone here? I didn't want to hijack the age thread, so here it is!

I joined to help in upgrading my old AMD K6-2 300 MHz HP Pavilion way back in the day. I got advice from this site to get another video card installed, add memory, and replace the processor with a 500 MHz K6-2 that I could only run at 450 MHz due to mobo limitations.

I'm just curious, thought this could be a cool thread to hopefully liven things up by looking to our past.

I started posting in 2003 sometime, when I started working with Electric_Head. He found out I was really into computers and recommended the site.

Was around the time I built my Athlon XP system, which I'm still running today.

The death of Rivazone, which was an Nvidia specific tweak site. Tweak3D was the rally point in the event the site went down for good. Which it did (obviously, I'm here).

I lurked awhile and eventually signed on to ask about upgrading the proc in my wife's HP pavilion with a stupid assed mercury mobo. My question was answered when fiddy lead me to the 1 gig celery proc that worked. At that time I'd already had three builds under my belt. I've been a pain in the T3d ass since Nov '01 I believe. Didn't start posting up alot until finding the fun in
the off topic forum. Man, there has been some epic threads uppin' here.

Started late in 04, before the forums were hacked. JustinL showed me the forum much earlier, I just waited a while to join.

A big part of my coming here was that I wanted a better computer but couldn't afford it because I was only a young teen with no steady income. I basically read every piece info I could get my hands on that would help optimize my badly aging components. It was the personality of the forum kept me around though.

I came for the tweaks and stayed for the freaks.

Been lurking since '02. Posted a few times asking for advice on a build for a computer I was building as a high school graduation present, and got hooked spying on all you off topic people :)

I was trying to tweak my Geforce 2 MX and the rest of my computer to run Half-Life/TFC/CS better. I think a search on dogpile or yahoo brought me here on a whim and I found the forums. It was 99 or 00' .

I joined after reading the guide and looking for help bridging two 56K dial-up modems together to form a "poor mans" 112K ISDN connection on my Pentium 233MMX! My dad flipped a shit when he realized I was using both phone lines haha. Brings back memories getting flamed by guys like Senseman and Talon Kale.

That was back in 2000 when I was 14. Having no money of my own and the parents not letting me fuck around with their computer, I pieced that state of the art Pentium MMX together from stuff I found on the side of the road.

EDIT: Wow, 7 years after trying to bridge two 56k modems together, here I am sitting on 3 fat 112mbps Verizon fiber pipes :-D

I joined March of '01 I believe. Needed some Half-Life tweaking help, and there was a guide for just that here. I started lurking the forums, and eventually asked about overclocking my processor. PII 233 running at 266. Ah, the good ol' days.

I came here to find out how to O/C my Gateway P3 600 and TNT2, eventually I had nothing better to do than come here. More specifically I got tired of the hardware section of the forums and I was grounded all summer.

I was a forum whore when I had AOL, so I needed my forum fix when I went to standard dial up. I also bought my first computer and it was handy that this was the first thing that came up when looking for forums.

I joined in 1997 or so when I first moved to the middle of nowhere Washington State from Dallas. I had no friends and was too far away to even make any and I was just browsing the internet all day. Being alone is what got me into computers and this website got me into tweaking originally. I was 13 or 14 years old at the time. I signed up for the forums and have been lightly posting ever since and have gone through like 8 name changes lol. I've been Chainblade for a while now though.

No clue why I joined. I found it searching for something that I don't really remember (heat related I bet)...anyhoo, it's been about 6-7 yrs since I first started lurking and then posting.
