I have discovered that a Turkey Swiss and... Sauerkraut sandwich works surprisingly well. What are unusual food combos you folks have taken a liking to?
http://realbrats.com/menu This place makes its own brauts. It is now about 30 mins. north of here on the highway to KC. The pineapple and apple brauts are their best-sellers, but they have many interesting combos. My favorite, one not listed, is apple-gouda. With kraut, these things are friggin' amazing. Whodathunkit. Smoked hot dogs sprinkled with feta cheese with a dab of mustard are very good.
That reminded me of a Tijuana Hooker-- a shot of tequila followed immediately by a shot of dill pickle juice. A/K/A a Dirty Sanchez. For realzorz!! http://www.food.com/recipe/tijuana-hooker-238669
I had some sour Kraut once that had sour creme and polish sausage. It was awesome. Hold the pickle juice though.
I just ran across an astonishing fact. Raw Nutmeg is evidently a hallucinogenic poison in large enough quantities. That blew my mind.
The combo remarkably is supposed to taste great, but I didn't hear about this til after I quit drinking, so I can't say firsthand. Another of these is one called a "mickeloski" where you take a jigger of lemon juice, a teaspoon each of sugar and ground coffee and hold those three things in your mouth, then take into your mouth about as much cognac as you can, swish it all around a second or two, and then throw it back. Your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to try both of these, and report back. For science!
I think this might be common, but sometimes people haven't tried it. Mac and cheese with peas. My mom used it as a trick to get use to eat veggies, but now I can't even eat it without peas mixed in.
yes! Gimmee the mouth sized veggies! I was the kid in school who everyone gave their spinach to so they could go for seconds in the hot lunch lines. I still love veggies so much I grow 3200 sq. ft. garden every year. I don't trust the heavily processed stuff in stores.
I grew up doing ketchup on eggs, but as soon as I could handle hot sauces I never went back. It's just too much flavor overpowering the eggs.
Ketchup overpowers the flavor of the eggs but hot sauce doesn't? I'm a yolk guy I guess. I like my eggs a little runny over easy so that toast, bacon, and/or ham can be dipped therein.
I don't use the ketchup as much as I used to. I used to put it on everything. Today, I put a little on hash browns and french fries, that's about it. I use more as an ingredient in cooking than I do as a condiment.
Haha, I actually thought about that after I posted it. I tend to use Tobasco or Cholulah on eggs because they're really thin and I only need a few drops. I also only put it on scrambled eggs. I like fried eggs with just some salt and pepper.
